What games, besides the BG series, would you folks suggest. I like the "sword and shield" aspect of these and do not think I would enjoy some of the more popular titles (Duke Nukem, Mech Warrior, etc).
I am a big Tolkien and Arthurian legend fan and would like some other games in a similar vein. If any of you suggest a series of games, unless they ara numbered, a la Wizardry, please give - to the best of your recollection - their chronological order. Thanks, all. ------------------ - for cut rate prices call 976-BRIS-FOR-LESS {Next time I send some damned fool, I'll go myself...} |

Hmm, OK, well I like Icewind Dale, espacially with the new HoW edition.
Planescape TORMENT..(oups a caps-lock).. Either than tha, well you have rage of mages, almost like Diablo 1 and 2, you have severance, blade of darkness, my favourite right now. Much more tight actions and swordplay than anything else.. Wizardry, and suchgames never actually got my interest.. Hmm, not helping much here am I?? If i find something IŽll let you know! ------------------ WOLF WINS EVERY FIGHT BUT ONE, AND IN THAT ONE, HE DIES |

Thanks. I should also mention I don't plan to play online. I know there are a few out there that can only be played through a website.

Shogun and Kingdom under fire are pretty good too!
Hmm, most games are still inder development, like Pool of radience, Torn, Arcanum (SOON SOON MY PET) NWN (will be some singleplayer missions too!) Throne of Bhaal, and some more.. Check out www.gamespot.com and choose PC games, look under RPG and you will find reviews, previews and release dates and also some player comments about most games. ------------------ WOLF WINS EVERY FIGHT BUT ONE, AND IN THAT ONE, HE DIES |

One of the games that got me into computer rpg's was Return to Krondor. It is based on Raymond Fiests books and done by Sierra studios. It is an excellent game. Very good character development and if you want to get more into the story after the game, there are a bunch of books to read to make it even more real for you.

Myth I and II and Freespace have to be my fav games so far. If you want to try something different a la space flight / combat sim, I'd definitely recommend Freespace.

Aside from RPGs and adventure games, there are two classics I currently play, Railroad Tycoon II (that is, if you like trains) and Dungoen Keeper II (it is SO nice to be the bad guy for once !). ------------------ The world is my oyster ! |

If you enjoy a touch of Real Time Strategy you can try out 'Age of Empires II; The Age of Kings'.
