I was thinking of playing this game again using a smaller party (so that I would gain experience faster). Can I get any suggestions as to what a good size would be and which characters to take? I like the ninja faerie for the CoC and possible a bishop and fighter/samuri/valk. Any help would be appreciated.

i played solo ninja faerie, but that's tuff.

i like my current group, which is a 4 woman version of the Blonde Brigade. 2 bishops, a samurai and a bard.

i pick up an rpc here and there for experience. i had Vi for awhile. then i picked up Myles while i was bringing up my bard's lockpick ability.

but i have settled pretty much on just the 4 girls and RFS-81. he has been so good to us. in fact, now that at Lvl 14 we are racing thru Bayjin, he has started "critting" like mad. when we are surrounded by 19 depth dwellers and 6 or 7 vampire bats and 8 dank beetles, those
insta-kills are greeted with rounds of cheers and laughter and give us the energy to keep fighting.

sooo... that's my favorite group so far.

btw, i have been thru 6 times and have had 6 or 7 other partial attempts, so i have tried lotsa combinations.

IMHO, With all the cool weapons, armors and gadgets, it seemed such a waste to play a small 1-2 man party.

The smallest is a party of one. Usually a Lord or a Ninja. (Ninja being the most popular solo.) HOWEVER, you cannot complete the game as a solo unless you use RPCs.

Therefore, as a non-RPC purist, a party of TWO is the minimum.

Right now I am doing that. I have two bishops. Both are human. This is how I developed them:

Bishop 1 - Male human. Started as a PURE FIGHTER. Put points into INT, DEX, SNS & PIE so that on the 7th level, level up (at level 7) I could change into a Bishop. I then put some additional points into PIE & INT, but not a lot.

The balance of the points went into STR, VIT, DEX & SPD as if he were going a perm. fighter.

Changed classes at Level 7. Was always equipped with sheild and mace (mace once bought/found).

Bishop 2. Female human. Started class as a pure fighter, but did point allocation for pure Bishop. Only ONE LEVEL as a fighter. On level up, changed to Bishop.

Huh? Where, when? There are a couple quests you can't finish without an NPC, but you can complete the game solo.

I played through with a solo Dwarven Bishop and only picked up NPCs for the idol and to do Al-Seduxus; I'm not even sure I needed an RPC for either, but I picked them up ahead of time just in case. As I remember, neither of these are necessary to complete the game anyway. Am I mistaken or forgetting something?

To get Destinae Dominus, you need the helm of serenity
To get the helm of serenity, you need the key of serenity
You get the key from the shaman
To be able to speak with the shaman, you need the idol

Without the destinae dominus, I'd like to see how you plan on ascending to the cosmic circle

how many RPCs are there in wiz8? ..
Arnika:1) Vi,2) Myles,3) the lion
Trynton: The gadgeteer
Umpani: the trynnie and the umpani
Bayjin: the trapped umpani
Mines: the t'rang fella on top of the mountain
Rapax castle: the rapax by the portal to asc. peak

I counted 8.. did I miss anyone? It is possible to make an party solely from RPCs obatined in the game, as long as you discard the one you start with.

Also add the droid (Mines) and the two prisoners in the Away Camp (Umpani and T'Rang).

No you don't! You just need the helm of serenity to keep from going insane while carrying the destinae dominus.

1) While playing with a single playing, being insane isn't that much of a hinderance (Can't attack yourself.)

2) If you go to drop off location for the DD, set a portal, then go get the DD, then return to portal and drop off DD you can limit the amount of time you're insane to a very short period.

I stand corrected. I guess I should keep my mouth shut until I've played the game as much as you.
