I need advice. I have beaten baldurs gate 2 and 1 and i was wondering which game is better? Icewind dale and heart of winter or the bg series? Im either going to get tob or icewind dale this weekend, and i need to know which one to get.

That is not really a fair question. Not everyone is the same and what is better for me may not be better for you. Actually better is a horrible word. They both are very good ... each see it in their own way.
If you begin to try to compare games to other games you might miss out. Icewind Dale + How + Trials is a blast and has a good story. It IS more action but that is not to say it does not have a good story. You can take 6 characters and grow them the entire game. Tob is Good and I am a big fan of the Baldurs Gate series... but only you can decide what one you prefer. I think you will be happy with either. |

Mordenheim is correct in what he said, and I feel kinda bad endorsing a game in Icewind Dale forum that is not Icewind Dale. Yet I must admit that I personally enjoy the BG series more than the Icewind Dale series. That is where you will get the feeling of haveing your money's worth...though I do recommend that you eventually get the complete Icewind Dale series, including the free downloadable expansion. It should not be missed. But buy ToB first... PS>>>(This is based on what IIIIIII like...not what is factual...)

better storyline/more roleplaying? the BG series...
I say give Icewind a go if you really enjoyed the BG series, though. i think any die-hard BG fan could definitely, without a doubt have fun playing Icewind Dale. just make sure you make a real badass party, and you're set...i chose to write up detailed bios for my whole party, to kind of compensate for the lack of involvement in terms of storyline and what not. i'm having a blast playing it.

be aware that iwd begins at lvl1 characters and has no npc's to pick up but if your into building a party from scratch then it is great.
