SPOIL
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . There is some elven chain that you can get that a mage can wear and STILL be able to cast spells, but I forget where you get it, sorry If you want to cheat, you could try Shadowkeeper! Since I got Shadowkeeper, I have used it for one thing only - to boost starting Abilities 'cos I get SO BORED trying to roll for 90+ score. If you want to use it this way and not for SERIOUS cheating, give your mage high Dexterity and Constitution for better armour class/more hit points. However, if I could make a suggestion: Create a Human Fighter, so that you get higher hit points naturally. For skills, only allocate things a Mage can do. As soon as the opening cut-scene has ended, Dual to Mage. You will LOSE your Fighter skill but retain the Abilities. When you get level 8 Mage, YOU GET THE FIGHTER SKILLS BACK, so your Mage can use Mage weapons MUCH better than the non-dualed Mage. Have fun! ------------------ Smile! Life is too short for bitching! I have Aerie wearing a robe of protection +2, Bracers of AC 3, and some sort of mage robe (can't remember) and she has an AC of -4 (I think, it has been a while since I played). You just have to play around with different combo's of rings/robes/bracers. I never did find any elven chain, maybe next time

SPOILERS
. . . . . . . . . . There are plenty of ways to get your AC down without cheating. Robe of Vecna - available if you have the bonus CD - you can download the merchants which sell extra goods in a very small zip file (1kb) - you can find the download Bonus CD here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/index_editors.htm This is not cheating - it is a legitimate BGII add on which was a special CD for people who pre-ordered the game. The robe lowers your base AC to 5. Robe of the Good Archmagi - if your character is good this can be bought in Trademeet - there are also Neutral or Evil ones, but I don't know where. As others have said the Bracers AC3 are great. Elven chain mail can be used by mages & they can cast while wearing it, but it is not available until late in the game. It's also a stylish metallic green colour as a bonus. Drow elven chain works the same, but can only be used in the underdark. ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.
