Each of those dungeon delve style D&D board games includes an adventure book with 12 or so different adventure style games designed to last 1-2 hours. I also found it easy to make a few up on my own but I do consider DMing a "career" of mine, lol. Lots of replayability in those games. We have definitely gotten "hours and hours" out of them.

Hmmm yeah I saw a video review of it today. It's nice with the miniatures and cards etc. Not sure if the whole "pick a card to see your fate" is my cup of tea but then, I think 4e is kinda like that now anyways, right? I rarely even used random encounter tables as a DM - all my encounters were predetermined. If there was a wandering monster, I had already decided what kind it would be. I think this would be nice at a party maybe, or as a way to introduce people to D&D. I see these fast play games are actually quite popular, and again have always loved the spin-offs back when TSR did them.

But I like the tiles and models and cards even if just for my own collection purposes. I could always use them for other D&D stuff easily. And there's nothing to say I couldn't ignore anything I don't like and write my own stuff into it, modifying and omitting what I want. Still think it's pricey though for a boardgame. Do you fight Strahd at the end btw?

You get several chances to face Strahd and a host of other bosses, including a dracolich.
