In the crypt there are two urns, when you place a correct figurine there a door opens and you are faced with a puzzle of flames ejecting from flor and a crate that closes when you are near it.
Is there a good way of passing by the gate that closes when you approach it? I have managed to pass threw a few times, because i was lucky or because my computer just coughed. I am stuck recently in front of the "wizard part gate" trying to jump, run, but to no avail. Luckily i passed threw the warrior gate already so i can continue the mavin quest [ 02-29-2004, 07:30 AM: Message edited by: kondrix ] |

IIRC, you switch both levers that can be found on either side of the room, jump around the fires on the outside of the room, and then run straight for the door, making sure to jump over the middle fire that heals you, because if you touch that one, then the door won't stay open. Or, if you're quick enough, you could stick the crate under the door before it closes and then squeeze through.

There is a walkthrough of that particular puzzle on your CD. The puzzles of the two chambers differ slightly. In one of them you have to walk around the rim of the chamber through all the fires flipping the two levers on the way. You must however not touch the middle fire or the puzzle will be reset. In the other puzzle you have to walk straight through the middle fire and back through the same fire again before the grate will open. I cannot remember which solution applies to which chamber.
That is the official version. I have tried it a couple of times and it does not always work. What I found works best is running through the middle fire (which in both chambers opens the grate temporarily) with a crate in front of you. You have to pick a crate which passes under the grate lengthwise. (One cannot turn a crate around). After a few attempts you should be able to get it stuck beneath the grate.

That's the best way I've found. I usually get too severely burned doing it the other way, so I grab a crate or chest and run through as fast as possible.
Save before you start your run, though. It usually doesn't take me more than six or seven tries to get it right

The warrior path (without levers) can be passed easily:
1. Check the grate at the end of the room of fires. It could be closed. 2. Enter the first fire and when it starts to burn you, retreat immediately. 3. Check the grate at the end of the room of fires. It should be open now. 4. Go (or run) straight forward. The grate will be open when you reach it. The wizard path (with levers) cannot be swindled this way. Either use force (a chest) or go around the walls to the first lever, click, heal, go back around the walls and continue to the second lever, click, heal, go forward around the walls to the grate. It will be open when you reach it. During the trip, you must avoid the central fire. The fire heals but it also resets the trap so that you have to repeat the trip from scratch. The trip in the room of fires will cost each of your characters about 30 HP so that plan accordingly.
