I have my combat intensive, archer happy party-
Aasimar Fighter/Barbarian- Uses big swords Drow Fighter- Dual-wields whatever she can get her hands on Human Fighter 1/Cleric of Lathander X- Uses returning weapons & shield, mid-tank Halfling Rogue/Ranger- Archery and defensive specialist. Little machine gun Wild-elf Cleric of Selune- Archery specialist too. Tiefling Diviner- Mainly uses buff spells like haste & stoneskin, but has a few fireballs up his sleeves. Its a wonderful party. I hardly have to rest, have plenty of healing, and have a great artillery section with my archers, and can take a ton of damage up front. And I don't have to toy around with any of those 'special ability' classes! |

I chose to go with only five characters, so I could advance them quicker. So far, missing the additional person hasn't hurt me yet.
Strongheart Halfling Rogue...Lv 12 (M) Human Fighter...Lv 12 (M) 45% of party kills Drow Fighter/Wizard...Lv 4/6 (M) Aasimar Cleric (Morninglord of Lathander)...Lv 11 (F) Drow Sorceress...Lv 10 (F) |

This party isn't stealthy, it isn't stealthy either.
Airemakil Elf / 81 years old/ Female Paladin of Helm15 / Fighter 15 Lawfull Good 15/13/10/10/14/14+ Warhammer - Longsword -Bow Role: Tank Tittaki Half-Elf / 95 years old / Female Barbarian 26 / Fighter 4 Chaotic good 18+/16/12/10/12/8 Great Sword Role: Tank Makanauko Drow /81 years old / Female Fighter 20 / Cleric of Mask 10 True Neutral 18+/15/10/16/16/5 Bastard Sword + short sword Role: Tank Yarmelisse Human/25 years old /Female Druid 22 /Barb 8 Chaotic Neutral 14/13/14/10/18+/7 Spear Role : Tank - 2nd healer/buffer Kulraavi Aasimar /22 years old /Female Cleric of Tempus 26 / Fighter 4 Alignment: Lawfull Good Stats: 12/10/10/10/20+/18 Axe + Shield Tank - Healer/buffer - Speaker Luunoleuke Tiefling / 27 years old / Female Wizard 27/Rogue 3 Lawfull Neutral 10/17/18/20+/10/1 2 Daggers (W finesse) Arcane caster - Tank (Tenser's transformation, blur, mirror image, stoneskin, and jump into the fray) Very melee oriented party. Magic is mainly for buffing up and I do not use ranged weapons. It is not stealthy either, no rogue, not even a ranger or a bard.

I don't understand the 3rd ed DnD rules well enough to get the most out of the new multi-classing capabilities. So I stuck with the party that closely matches the last one I played IWD with.
The Tanks Aasimar Paladin of Helm(f): Fire Mace/shield, (primary weapon) Longsword/parrying dagger Crossbow Dwarven fighter (m): Static hammer/shield (primary weapon) Sling/shield The Sniper/Medic (MEDIC!!!!) Human cleric of Lathander (f): Mace/shield Crossbow (primary weapon) The Sniper/Scout Human rogue (f) (level 12 rogue/level 1fighter): +2 dagger shortbow (primary weapon) The Sniper/Spellcasters Elven Wizard (m): staff crossbow (primary weapon) Elven Bard (m): short sword longbow (primary weapon) Thus far, this party has been doing just fine. Since my original post, I've learned a bit more about 3rd ed multiclassing and have decided to toughen up my rogue by mutliclassing in a fighter level or 2. I haven't had any troubles with a lack of rogue skills to date. I've been very careful to throw all of her new skill points into thieving skills, so she's a rather capable rogue. The Tanks:
-Half Orc Barbarian (male), probably switch over to great swords soon -Dwarf Fighter (male), going for Longswords mostly The Brains: -Moon Elf Wizard (female), backing up with shortbow -Moon Elf Sorcerer (male), backing up with crossbow The Band-Aid: -Aasimar Cleric of Helm (female), classic mace wielder The Sneaker: -Strongheart Half-ling Rogue (male), scouting point, sneak attacks, shortbow Its the classic party that you cant go wrong with. |

-=UPDATE=-
i have found it inevitable that you cannot advance throughout this game with two party members based on core rules. my new party: Aaleia Tiefling Ranger/Sorceress Lawful Neutral Kendar Foehammer Shield Dwarf Paladin of Helm/Fighter Lawful Good Entii Wild Elf Barbarian Chaotic Good Vivaci Half-Elf Morninglord of Lathander Neutral Good Armus Human Monk of the Old Order Lawful Neutral perhaps this will be a little more efficient.. i made a kind of tiny and risky party with only humans and elfs, its made of:
human barbarian elf paladin of helm human monk elf ranger human necromancer half elf (do not remember if half elf, human or elf) sorcerer i got a wizard and a sorc just for 1 reason, i didnt know if i had enough $ to buy scrolls...or even scrolls to be bought that party is kinda fragile but as my to spellcasters have 2 points in crossbows (+2 light one and a +1 heavy one) and the good bow skill of my ranger i can advance quite well |
