You know, it really had to happen at some point. I was thinking yesterday that the international football community must have been thinking "The Aussies are so unnaturally good at so many other sports, and have some amazing individual footballers, - so when are they going to get it together as a team - and how frightening will it be when they do??"

My hit prediction - Australia's ascention in football has just kicked off. May take a while but it's now on the way...

It sounds like a cracker. was it 74 or 78 that they both played the world cup final? I remember the holland team from the 70's what a classic line up. I screamed myself hoarse for holland to win that world cup . I hope they win tonight Johnny.

Ps what is your prediction for both matches?
Too late for predictions. I see Australia beat England, i don't know how the hell that happened.

Question for the Aussies: Did Brett Emerton play ?

Holland-Argentina was one of the most boring matches i've ever seen. Both teams played at best at 50%, the crowd got cheated tonight. But at least Holland did their job, they beat Argentina 1-0. V. Bronckhorst scored with a shot from long distance.

Jeffers scored for your guys - good glancing header.

From our side - Popovic, Kewell, and Emerton
That would be Brett Emerton.

ROFL!! I was laughing a lot at most of the other replies predicting an England rout but this made me laugh out loud!

Man! I'm still excited! Unfortunately I missed Emerton's goal cause I had to go out to uni but was a great game! Perhaps England should have approached the game as if they were already 4 nil down in a series

Yes, but they'll be making excuses for our win: in the vein of:

England - one of the greatest football nations on Earth was beaten by a shaky and uninspiring Aussie side. Basically England played crap. They should not have lost, but they did, badly.

You know - the double underhand comment style where they are basically bagging both teams out...
