LoA: You independent? Man, where were you when I had to have my guest room finished?!
Took me a year to find someone. He's nephew of someone from church and did a great (reasonably priced) job, but he was new to doing that kind of work so it took a while. His brother's a bldg inspector for the town next door (commercial) and helped him shim out the studs for wallboard on the gable side (Cape Cod) and mud...man that guy is a PRO...I'm desperately allergic to all that drywall dust (mucho doctor's visits after moving into this place until we figured it out and had the heating ducts professionally cleaned!) and they did the whole room with hardly any sanding needed! Amazing. He just built me a little porch off the back door to replace those rickedy steps the original contractor threw on for my certif of occupancy. Cloudy |

Cloudy right now I'm not an independent framing contactor although I was for years. For now I'm working for my buddy trying to catch up on bills. Hopefully later this spring I'll be doing more my own thing. Kind of a specialist mage thing except its a framing sub-genre called punchout. Fixing screwups mainly. I'm not much of a drywall finisher. Takes me forever although I havent done it much. Sounds like that guy did a nice job for you. Glad for that, there are many idiots around!

LoA: Oh yah...like the drywallers my orig contractor hired...sigh...used nails in JANUARY up here, can we say 'nail pops'...everywhere. So many I've just left half of them till I get around to re-painting rooms some year or other!
So if the framers put something in the wrong place, you fix it? Like squaring it off or something- or like when they frame a door on wrong side? Sorry, curious, must be my affiliation with felines! LOL! Cloudy |

Kinda like that yes Cloudbringer. Although I do more in the framing stage kind of thing. Right now just building the whole house. Our crew is very good so theres no real screw-ups to fix. I'm looking into fixing others for other builders and charging a nice sum for it. Various problems preclude this right now but I'll get it together sometime If you brew up some turnip beer I'll frame you an addition for your house! I'm off to bed so nite nite

Good night, LoA. I'll keep you in mind if I ever expand the homestead! LOL And I'll see if I can find a turnip in the yard...but don't hold your breath. How do you feel about rosehip and witch hazel beer? No? Uh, serviceberry and tulip beer? No? Well, the squirrels left a few daffodils, they are poisonous, though....snicker.. Boy you are picky! LOL!!!!
