I'm a huge Horror and Sci Fi fan. I was wondering what people consider to be the best films in both genres!
I'll see what other people say before I say mine, as I don't want to sway anyone's judgement. |

Now your talking! The George Romero and Evil Dead trilogies are fantastic! Evil Dead 2 and Dawn of the Dead in particular!

Well I'm not really a horror fan. In fact I don't ever watch horror. Well I watched Hannibal a few times....
As for Sci-Fi, I don't think its the best of the genre, but I like the original movie of Dune. Sure it didn't follow the books all that well, (but IMHO no movie can equal out to that book) but I liked it. I also like the Sci-Fi channel's version of it. Longer, newer, and it followed the books better. As for the others in Sci-Fi, it depends on your own description of Sci-Fi. But I'd have to go with Episodes IV, V, & VI of Star Wars, and some of the good Star Trek movies. Like I said it depends on your discription. Matrix can be considered a Sci-Fi. Not the "classic view, but it could be considered one none-the-less. As for the best in that genre.... I can't name one. All of the good ones are on even standards with each other, IMHO.

I love Starcrossed.
Do fantasy films count? Just love Ladyhawke and Thief of Baghdad (the version starring June Duprez -- wonder if the spelling's right...).

Evil Dead series rules...
I saw it years ago, and fell in love with it... I have now bought 3 of the dvd's and am having a field day watching them... Hell, I even got my wife hooked on the movies... She absolutely loved Evil Dead 2, and we are gonna watch Army of Darkness tonight... You want to watch a few movies that border on a perverted mind... Watch I Spit on Your Grave (a cult drive in classic from the 60's), or The House on the Left (beforewarned, this is a very perverted and dark movie) Man, I grew up watching B movies, and have seen so many good movies, as well as quite a few campy/bad movies...
