What, the first or second one?
If it's the second, here is the answer (in a PM). The second one I can't do.

I am wondering though .. is it a matter of playing so many times that you know that he does, or is there a mathematical way of solving this puzzle ?
Is there a way to do this clean, the first time if you think through enough ?
A formula or theory or something that wins/predicts his moves or something ?

Just a yes or no will do .. I'm not going to put you through the horror of explaining it to me

Yes there is a mathematical way to solve it. Yes you can do it the first time. No it does not involve his moves at all.

I have now found 4 ways to beat the computer in the second challenge. It is IMO somewhat easier to beat him there (when he starts) than in the first one.

man if you thought that game was tough, you should try Chasm!

That is one of the BEST puzzle games i've ever SEEN! O_O amazing it was! Oh and i figured out the puzzle so i suppose it't not that hard if you've got a good sense of direction
