Original article
Quote:
The discovery of a 12.7bn light-year distant supermassive black hole has challenged astronomers' understanding of star and galaxy formation. NASA's Chandra X-Ray observatory spotted the object, which is generating energy at the rate of twenty trillion suns, at the heart of a quasar formed less than a billion years after the big bang.
EDIT: Typo...

20,000,000,000,000 suns? Hope that's enough zeros I put there. Egads! That's ALOT of energy. I am in awe of the universe. Another amazing stuff.

A sport black hole? Is that the English cricket teams trophy cabinet?

On topic ... I just can not get my head around such big numbers.

Question Mark

Well, at least they spotted evidence of a supermassive black hole.

It amazing how simple black holes are to understand once one studies the beautiful 11-dimensional cosmology of M-theory (or brane theory, whichever you prefer). There are alternate universes only angstroms away from ours, but we cannot percieve them or detect them.
