Anyone tried Homeworld 2, I just did and I think I'll be seriously hooked on this game...

It's simply awesome!
The graphics are simply breathtaking, the gameplay a little confusing at first but you get used to it. The Atmosphere is so intense, hardly ever time to breath... Definetly one of the best game of the year.

I never played Homeworld 1 but had Homeworld Cataclysm which is a kind of an self playing Addon to HW1.
If you like epic spacebattle this is a dream come true

9/10

Just look!

I loved Homeworld Cataclysm! Never played the original but I'm certainly going to give HW2 a try.

How do you like the difficulty, Jorath? In some reviews I read this was a problem with the game. That, in the later scenarios, the enemies are simply overwhelming. Any insights?

I just got it yesterday and couldn't play until last night... I only played the first two levels so far... and they are not so hard, but like I said, very intense.

I just got the game too, it's pretty fun... great graphics, decent storyline. So far (I'm only on the 7th mission) it's not too hard.

IMHO it's similar to Hegemonia, but I'd give the nod ot Heg. as the better of the two if they're compared head to head... Heg. has more stuff going on and seems more engaging. Homeworld has good cut scenes, but so far the missions have been cut and dried space combat. You do need to do research to upgrade your equipment, but combat seems to be the emphasis of the game. Hegemonia had additional layers of diplomacy and resource management... along with hero's that improved the longer they lived.

I liked Hegemonia's navigation techniques for scrolling around 3d space, but Homeworld has better control when it comes to moving ships above and below the planetary plane, although niether does this very well (they're not what I would consider TRUE 3d space... more like 2d with a third that is used occasionally)

So far the game isn't as addictive as Hegemonia was... but it's early yet.

I've played the original and I made a review of the demo of Homeworld 2, but no one except Zuvio seems to have noticed that thread.

Here's the thread, there's a link to the demo download as there as well.

Well I've gotten to the last mission and the last couple have been very hard... so I'll agree with the comments others have made. It's to the point that you have to do things in exactly the right sequence, make sure you have the exact right mix of ships, and make sure you micromanage every engagement to win. With the ships set to agressive, the smaller craft will commit suicide by blasting too far ahead of the big guns if you're not careful, and resource management became a huge PITA until I started cheating and giving myself more resources at the start of the mission (my bad ). I'm getting too old to have the patience to restart missions a millions times.

I have only played the original and have been wiating for number two for a long time to get it. The frist game was very hard and i have only finished the game twice.
But I dont think that my computer will be able to handle the the game. I onlyly have a celeron 1.4 gig with 320 meg of ram and an onboard graphics card, Yes laugh all you want, It was a crap deal from Harvey Norman.
My parents wanted to make it a surpise and didnt tell me tat they were getting it, And with their "Knowlage" of computers, i guess they went with whatever the guy said.
