I have a lvl 15 fighter that is still using the demon sword I got from the monastary. Now if there were more demons to fight this would be fine. However, given the lack of demons I'd really like to upgrade. (I have bloodlust, but I beserk already, so there's no point.) Where are all those awesome swords I've heard about about? Are they all randomaly generated and I've just been unluckly?

I agree chimera99. My level 12 fighter is all souped up with his sword stats and I'm still lugging around the demonslayer.
Have we both missed something?....I'm presently in Bayjin

I did not find any of the "best" swords til I got into the Rapax Castle. I think I may have even finished a game weilding that same sword since I missed out on getting the Muramasa Blade for my Samuari.

EDIT: There is an awesome blade called Fang but I forget where we found it. Hopefully someone will post a spoiler here for you guys.

2nd EDIT: My next post gives some actual information on better swords (hey! I remembered something! )

A better question is where are the shields? I've found mostly Round Shields and Bucklers. The only magical ones seem to be ones only used by Theives and other non-fighter types. Oh yeah, and I need a better Axe besides my 2-handed wood cutter.

I can't help you with the axes, but my thief stole a kite shield from Antone! Called a Dragon Kite, I think it is the best shield in the game...thanks chimera for the stats!

I saw another (Dragon Kite) later in the game...can't remember where...that memory thing again, sorry, but I do think Ferro sells them too.

BTW, I read on this forum or maybe another (yeah, that memory thing again...happens to head injury victims and old people you know LOL) that boss weapons are only loaded into the chests and whatnot "upon entering the area" meaning that if you are in Rapax Castle (Queen's room) or in front of Davy Jone's Locker...whatever is in the chest is going to be what is in the chest unless you actually leave the area and come back so rather that save in front of a chest and hope for something better by reloading the saved game (it ain't gonna happen), if what you want is not in the chest, leave the area via feet or portal and come back and try again.
Kinda troublesome, but for those who want Excalibur (Davy Jones Locker) or the Muramasa Blade (for a Samurai~Queen's room) it would be well worth it.

As for swords, I only found a good one in Rapax castle as well, however I found a *light* *shield* from a chest in Arnika.

spoiler:

I am by now finishing the 'underwater world'. What I know about good items is that they are mainly in 'the underwater world' (the locker and a chest in bayjin) and 'rapax district'. I can't help you on those from rapax. But for those in bayjin.....
--'light''sword':a random item in bayjin hut chest (need to save before entering bayjin).
--'light''shield':a random item from the dead woman who gives you the banner.(just save before speaking to her)
--you may get a mystic ray or a frontier phraser (both random modern weapon) from the chest above.(need to save before entering bayjin)
--in the locker behind nessie, you may get excalibre, ring of regeneration, ring of the road, divinemail(upper, lower and head).Note that all are also random and you need to save before entering bayjin shallow and fight nessie a lot......)

-- Here are some of the non-random nice swords. *SPOILER*

-- Fang: In the temple of the SE wilderness
-- Ivory Blade: Custom made by Ferro
-- Bushido Blade: In the Armory above Ferro. You have to get the key from him.
