hmm seen with todays eyes the greek mytology might be wicked. I agree with whoever said that the mytology represents what is accepted and what is not, I mean man to boy relationship was perfectly normal in ancient greek. Reading some of the greek mytology here.

Well that is probably true according to one version of the myth.....in the version I know ...In the beginning there was Chaos, a dark and undefined mass in which the seeds of all that is were laying hidden. Then from Chaos were formed Gaia, the Earth, and Ouranos, The Sky.
I thought that you said Rhea and Kronos begot the Titans, sorry if I corrected you without cause. Edit: you did say that.... Oh well, you have corrected it in the last post you made...that's why I thought I might have misread.... ------------------ Melusine, High Queen of Fluffies, Archbabe of the OHF, the LH, the HADB and the SPAE(Society for the Prevention of Acronym Extinction) & Official Entertainer Elf of the BG2 Bar Your voice is ambrosia Amy Brown Fantasy Art [This message has been edited by Melusine (edited 07-19-2001).] |

I suppose I have read too much psychlogy particularly Jung to not treat myth as metaphors and see rather the symbolism expressed in it. The study of ancient religions and their symbolism is a fascinating topic. I would suggest a book called the GOLDEN BOUGH.

Ah...Frazer's Golden Bough...yes it is interesting, and so are Levi-Strauss and Jung....
But I always feel that something is slightly fishy about those theories.... whereas you can't help seeing myths in their symbolic qualities, I cannot help but questioning this symbolism.... But I do think it can often give us very interesting and fruitful new interpretations... ------------------ Melusine, High Queen of Fluffies, Archbabe of the OHF, the LH, the HADB and the SPAE(Society for the Prevention of Acronym Extinction) & Official Entertainer Elf of the BG2 Bar Your voice is ambrosia Amy Brown Fantasy Art |
