Do you need magical weapons to kill Vampires? If so is there a minimum?

if you have a good cleric (or even a bad one, although not the same effect) try turn undead, its pretty cool at high levels but helps at low ones

You need a +1 weapon at least to harm a vampire (I think). since by the time I fight some of them I have at least a +2 or +3 handy from the adventurer's mart.
Also turn undead is really lethal to them and so is sunray. (Sunray can inflict a potential 1000+ damage to them!! - No Kiddin'!) ------------------ Greetings mortals, my name is Wah, Arch Lich Wah. |

I think it might be +2 weapons, as I have attacked the vampires in town that are attacking the Shadow Thieves, and have gotten the weapon ineffective on some of the hits (Yoshi, and Jaheira and they both had +1 to hit weapons). These are those named vampiers, and I think I got the same message against the ones in the Frik's cave but can't rember.
A great weapon to use on them is the azurend (spelling is crappy tonight) ax, throw that puppy and watch the undead scream! And it's realitively cheap too. Do be careful of them level draining you, as it sucks... unless you have a good cleric with you. Good luck and death to the Vamps! Just a related note here, both azure edge and the mace of disruption are bugged and do not effect most undead as they should. There is a third party patch to fix that at http://members.home.net/mrkevvy/.
