Greetings,

I am looking for a new game to buy, perhaps a new obsession . So I was looking at W8... Was just wondering is this a good game rated by the RPG standards? I mean I'm sure most of us here played BG, IWD etc. And I'm sure we can make a comparison or something. So if anyone can give me some feedback on Wizardy, I'd apriciate it ty hehe.

I can't say much (don't know what you want to hear LOL) but the game is not like BG in that you are not looking at your characters on the screen doing their stuff. You're seeing everything from a first-person perspective, like the Might & Magic games. (I haven't seen IWD, don't know what it looks like).
Anywho, get yourself a new obsession, namely Wizardry 8.
There are great character/party creation possibilities, lots to do adventure-wise, cool weapons & armor, and vocal interaction from your party members that will have you cracking up.
Lots to do in the storyline and you can go anywhere ( that you can survive lol) and do anything without screwing it up (in most cases lol).
Try it, you'll like it and if you don't, you can blame me and make me buy your copy...COD of course.

Wiz 8 is a love it or hate it game, IMO. Personally, I'm firmly in the love it category. Read the reviews on Gamespot, decide if it sounds intriguing, if so, give it a whirl. (And ALWAYS get your games from a place that has an unconditional 7 or 10 day return policy)

It's sort of a comdo of M&M6-7 and Daggerfall. It's a lot of fun as long as you don't mind long combats.

Well lets just say Wizardry 8 tied for my favorite game (the other one being Realms of Arkania: Star Trail)!

Hey Vap,
Thanks for the reminder about Star Trail. Hadn't thought of it in a looong time. Incredible game. Now that it's freeware, I might have to d/l it and give it a whirl again!

I run a ROA mailing list - and just posted a URL where you can get the first two of the trilogy!

If I remember, I will grab it and post it here.

Just a note. There is a demo available if you want to try that before you buy. It will give you an idea of the mechanics and feel of the game. It is rather large so it will take a long time to download if you have 56k.
