Yet another update...
The Den, having completed Shurugeon Castle and the Stout Mines, is not anxious to head up to the Boogre Caves just yet. Not with a brand-new assassin, at least; think of the missed training opportunities! Digger, the new assassin, wandered into the warrior guild and was poking around when he realized he could use more stuff! He didn't have the class limitations that rogues do, and was able to upgrade to a longsword +1, some samurai pants and boots, and a new helm. His AC is 19 and change, compared to 12 or so for everyone else. And I don't think he stole anything from the store, either... And magic! We finally have magic! Digger's first skill point after level-up goes into moon magic, and he trains there as well. Got to get those travel spells... and two trainings at each level (wizard and priest) means level 7 will be here quickly. The Den makes their way over to DragonSpire, since that's the last good place besides the Boogre Caves and they've got full sets of dragon armor across the board. They head in, drop Erzebette's letter in the box, and run for the beast. It breathes, and as they get there, so do a couple of cave hounds. No problem... except the hounds are on the other side of the beast. And they're still attacking somehow... Stripes keeps taking damage. Stripes is dead? How in the heck did that happen? Oh, dragon armor isn't 100% fireproof. Okay... Run back down the hall, use one of those rebirth scrolls, and let's see... hey, waitaminnit! There are a couple of Fuming Fungi up there, too. Okay, now we are officially screwed... but wait! Digger has magic now, and lessee.... iceball! Iceball! Distance spell, affects multiple targets... this is sweet! Except he can only fire two of them. Now, the question... use the mana max potions for a dinky couple of iceballs, or wait for the mana to recharge. We wait... and wait... until someone else joins the party. It's a spider... no, three mountain spiders. No problem... we need some XP,,, but wait! Those fuming fungi are back! Okay, who's got the healrealm... Slinky the lizard, okay. Keep it ready, Slinky... At one time, the Den was facing five fungi, three mountain spiders, three cave hounds, and a quarter of cave jellies (slimes, by another name). They eventually made it through, managing to slay everything in sight. They've picked up one dragon shard (Scorpthion was easy), and are ready to do more damage. Gotta love the shadows... at one hole-in-the-ceiling, everyone announced their presence before dropping in for a fight. Lots of fun, even with a magic-challenged group. More later. Nighty-night time now...
