OK, this Aussie got 80% on his American History test (see other thread by AngelofDeath), even if he was shown up by a cinnamon sugared pastry on a couple of occasions - so my turn for Australiana questions :
1) What day is Australia day 2) Where were the first houses of parliment for the Commonwealth of Australia located 3) What is the native habitat for a West Coast Eagle 4) What significant event occurred on July 21st 1969 5) Where are the "Darling Ranges" 6) When was the last time that the Australian Walllabies won a Rugby test series against the British Lions 8) Who holds the : a) Rugby World Cup b) Rugby League World Cup c) Cricket World Cup d) Netball World Cup e) Davis Cup 9) Who is "The Battler's Prince" 10) Who bowled "The Gatting Ball". Looking forward to some answers ------------------ |

Shows how bothered I am with their history - only took a guess at question 8. Shows how bothered they are with their own if _recent_ sporting events are that important Can you imagine the yanks boasting about being the Olympic Rugby Union champions? (can you imagine them even knowing that they are?) |

I struggled a bit with number 7 You need to brush up on theose numeracy skills. BTW - that' s not a history test, we would class that as 'recent events' ------------------ Save Chip - Don't let Sarah win! Official Titterer of the Laughing Hyenas |

Actually I think I termed the test Australiana - I don't believe I represented it as a history test .
Let's see, how did you do: 1) correct 2) good guess, correct 3) Wrong - Subiaco Oval, Perth (it's an Australian Rules Football side) 4) Correct, but only partial credit because you failed to undersatnd the significance - it is July 20 in all the history books, but was July 21 here - also my 6th birthday 5) Correct again 6) You missed 2001, but I'll let you off with a "Correct for now" 7) There is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.............. question 7 8) You missed the trick question - Spain holds the Davis Cup - Australia lost the final 9) Correct - Fatso the Wombat 10) Correct, Warnie - is there nothing the "Sheik of Tweak" cannot do??? OK, so 6 and a half out of nine - solid middle of the class performance there - two pink elephant stamps will be awarded . ------------------ |

Oh man, let me see if I can jog a few out of my head. I'm a big Australia fan so I bet I can nail a few more than usual. (Bah, dont give the answers away yet. Thank god I was typing and posted before you replied.)
1) What day is Australia day 26 January 2001, and is in its fifth (Sixth?) year? 2) Where were the first houses of parliment for the Commonwealth of Australia located stab in the dark - Melbourne? 3) What is the native habitat for a West Coast Eagle not a clue - the west coast? 4) What significant event occurred on July 21st 1969 The Honeysuckle Creek Tracking Station following the moon landing? Heh, thank you national geographic! 5) Where are the "Darling Ranges" Don't know much other than it's a nice nature tourist place near Perth. Greenmount National Park and the John Forrest National Park is nearby, because I was thinking of traveling there for vacation someday and asked for info. Cool spings and vineyards are there too, but I'm mainly there for the hiking/nature prospects. C 6) When was the last time that the Australian Walllabies won a Rugby test series against the British Lions I don't follow rugby much, so I can't honestly say. 8) Who holds the : a) Rugby World Cup I may not know Rugby, but dont insult me. heh. Australia nabbed it. b) Rugby League World Cup nope. c) Cricket World Cup uh uh d) Netball World Cup no clue e) Davis Cup dunno. 9) Who is "The Battler's Prince" Fatso the Wombat. Pure insanity that I can only begin to truly understand. I dont know enough togive an adaquate response. Roy and HG have issues. 10) Who bowled "The Gatting Ball". The only gattling ball I know of is in a drinking song. [This message has been edited by Waluin (edited 07-05-2001).] |
