Anyone care to explain about wild magic (I hear you can get it if you let the computer randomly assign magic spells to one of the classes of mage...)

The Wild Mage is going to be a new character kit in the Shadows Of Amn add-on, Throne Of Bhaal. Basically, they are mages who just cast the first spell that comes into their head so it adds a bit of randomness to the game. Just imagine facing a dragon when you really need a powerful fireball and your wild mage casts colour spray instead! Highly original or deeply frustrating? You decide.

I understand it a little differently.

The way I understand it is that wild mages memorize spells just like any other mage. However, they have chances that their spells will go wacko on them periodically. They also have a chance of their spells being super-sized. For instance...a wild mage who casts fireball may: 1) Cast a normal fireball 2) Cast a triple or quadruple strength fireball...like 30d6 or something 3) Try to cast a fireball and have it fizzle or maybe turn him into a squirrel.

Now *that* sounds like fun!
