HURRAAAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!

Cloack of subduing: the Deceiver

Description:

This cloack had an ordinary looking, it almost looked to be non-magical. The cloack is wore from time to time, the color had worn out. However, just this ordinary look served its greatest advantage from time to time. Knowledgable Sages searched this cloack's background for centuries, few even discovered the person who enchanted it. Most believe him to be arcanist Dethed.

Dethed was one of the great arcanist once lived in Nethirl. At that time, humans discovered Nether Scrolls, which conceal great secrets of magic, from the wasted elven ruin of Aryvandaar. They parted road of learning magic from elves, and began research of their own. Dethed was on of those self-educated arcanists. However, humans were not yet knowledgable and exprienced in the Arts. They made variaty of mistakes, and one of those transformed Dethed into a lich. Dethed is the first recorded human lich, and possibly the first necromecor, in the history. He invented spells such as Finger of Death, and many other death spells. Obviously, his power alone with his new appearance scared the living abyss out of almost any arcanist who knew him. Dethed was then hunted by wizards from many, including the powerful Ioulaum enclaves and Opus enclaves.

Dethed, not wanting to be destroyed, used most of his power to enchant this cloack, which can subdue and hide his own magical identity. After the completion of the cloack, he was spared from the certain disastor. No one ever heard from him since then, until another one hundred years later, he reappeared trying to use his spell Dethed's Trap (Trap the soul) to take over one of Ioulaum's apprentice's body. Ioulaum, the most powerful archwizard ever lived in arcane age, destroyed Dethed, and Dethed's cloack was kept and passed among netheril arcanists for studying.

The last netherese who owned this subduing cloack was a female archwizard of Opus enclave was Lady Arilain. -341 DR, Lady Arilain through her divination power discovered Karsus, who later known as "child-who-would- be-a-god", intended to cast level 12 spell: Karsus' Avatar. After threw warnings to the enclave, she left along with the cloack to confront Karsus. She was never heard again then.

Several years after Year of the Sundered Webs, which was when Karsus casted his Avatar spell and destroyed entire Netheril, including himself, The Subduing Cloack was rumored to be worn by elven mage Quazar 'l Harbringer. During the Shadow Wars against dark elves of Twisted Tower, he served army of Carmanthyr and Rystal Woods. Quazar 'l Harbringer cunningly disgused himself and spied Twisted Tower with the aid of the Subduing cloack. He brought back valuable information which led the united elven army to the grand victory of Year of the Shadow Fleeting.

After the retreat of dark elves, the Subduing cloacked earned a name: the Deceiver. Being famous and well-known had defeated the whole purpose of the cloack, Quazar 'l Harbringer locked it aside and vowed never to use it again.

However, his magic had not prevented thiefing hands, the Deceiver was stolen twenty years after the war. It was then travelled all over Faerun, and exchanged numerous owners. A half elf rogue named Bleagin used it to sneak into wizard school of Tethyr, trying to "loot the wealthy and spare the poor." He trippled into the back of a stone golem, which immediately crushed Bleagin into a mess. The cloack then went to Tethyr's royal court until -6 DR, the Year of Scarlet Scourages, the outlaw clan Fyrson rampaged Tethyr, burnt down the royal court and claimed rulership over the new found kingdom of Shoon. The Deceiver was thought to be destroyed after the fire, until it is recovered this day.

Stats:
Type: cloack
Special: When wearing this cloack, ALL magical items that the user is wearing will be temporaly neglated. They all appear to be non-magical. Most importantly, if a wizard is wearing the cloack, his magical aura will be subdued and not detectable through any means. The subded items will be functioning as normal item, and they do not glow any light. Spellcaster will temporarily lose spell casting ability.

Non-detection

When the a spell caster wear the cloack, his magical energy is stored within him, so when he remove the cloack, a power magical aura will burst out. All spells cast for the next one-round-per-week-of-wearing up to a maximum of one turn, will be twice as effective. this means all spells casted:

Spell casting speed reduce by 2
Saveable spells inflict additional -2 saving penalty
Damaging spells inflict double damage
Any spell's duration is doubled

Usable by:
Anyone

(note: there will be an icon serve the purpose as "remove cloack", that means, once click on it, the cloack will be automatically removed from the user, and drop back in inventory)

thx man, but this cloack is JUST for spell casters. think about it, if you are a VERY powerful mage, and not wish to be discovered, you can use this cloack, and people would think you weak and not a threat and such. you can use this as your advantage (and show off when you use your power)

True. But you did say ANYONE could use it. You also said it would negate any magic beneath it while it was worn. That means all items and special F/X. LOL. All it would take is one well placed arrow, and the mage goes down. He would have NO protection. Whereas a fighter would be at the ready (albeit with non-magical weapons at the fore), plus the magic in the swords/weapons would be doubled as they were suppressed, NO? Otherwise, how would they be negated. Hmmmmm. Even more wicked as my 18th Level Ranger pulls out his +3 Longsword and finds it to be a +6 for 2 rounds. BWAAAAHAAAA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

LOL LOL, no no no, it would not work that way. all it takes is a press of botton to remove the cloack. (think about you wearing a cloack and flip it aside easily)

it wont enstrength items, just mage himself. I designed this mainly for the roleplaying purpose. it would be cool if a powerful mage can hide himself and do some amazing things

I would think that a thief would find it useful as well. They could use their natural hide-in-shadows ability and could have the cloak to mask any magical light that could give their position away. Also, if they should have Stormbringer with them, no one could hear the sword moan as it would become non-magical beneath the cloak. Hmmm. Maybe that would be a cool mix. Perhaps Stormbringer would overpower the cloak. It did say it was the strongest magical item in the possession of a human. LOL

i think the cloack doesnt remove the magic, it just conceal them, block, i'd say. like, use you hand to cover your eyes so you cannot see the outside world... well, kind of

actually, it is more like, when you have a can of coke, and you shake it violently. if there is no cover, then the coke just spill out. but if there is a cover, once you open it, it KABBOOOOOM... lol

Well, that's why I was wondering if Stormbringer would pop the top of the magic of the cloak. It is a +5 weapon. And has a soul in it too. How much magic can it contain? That would be interesting to see. How else would the owners have been overpowered so easily? Hmmmmmm.

Sorry if it's sounding like I'm ragging on you, but I really like the simpleness of the item you picked to create. There is a world of possibilities with that simple cloak my friend. Perhaps it too has a soul trapped inside of it. Perhaps a soul of an avatar that is aligned with a particular goddess of magic. Oh my, that would be very interesting indeed.
