I have only just begun Wizards and Warriors and apart from the crashes, freezes and the mad dancing around bug I have experienced (yep I have the patch) the game looks good.

Is there a list somewhere where it explains exactly what effects that ailments have?
Do ailments wear off after a certain period or do they have to be removed at the temple or by use of a spell?

The manual has nothing and I've done a search in here but only came up with a short reference to the cure all spell.
thanks

Knip

Hi Knip,
The more experienced players will give you a better idea, but here’s what I know:
The Temple can cure every ailment I’ve encountered. I get most healing there because you have to carry potions otherwise, not all being available at the wizard’s shop.
Minor ailments wear off, but others will stay till you heal them.
You can gain spells to cure ailments, but the temple seems to be a better bet at the beginning.
You can find a list of spells and what they do in the BEST TIPS post of this forum.
Hope you enjoy the game.

Looks like a great answer to me, Mattman!!

Ailments like blindness and such lesser conditions will wear off in time. Ailments like poison, turned to stones etc. you need the Temple, a potion or a spell to cure.

Hope that helps!

Hi guys,
thanks for the help but I need further clarification.
My mage....bless her sweet little heart...has the grean face...me thinks that is deseased
I am in the Crypt after defeating Scabban (maybe I should not have fought him...but I didnt like the tone of his voice after he said he wants to find a cure and rule the world )
I am concerned that my mage will loose stats points if I dont heal her soon...........but it will probably take me a while to find an exit back to town .
Do I have a prob if she remains with the green face icon? (gosh I wish Bradley gave a indication what each negative icon meant)
thanks again

Knip -

Just get yourself right into that BEST TIPS thread - there is an index (of sorts) on the first post and within the thread there is a post which links you to a complete guide as to what face/icon means what!

Is it "too" late to restore your game from before fighting Scabban??
Is your mage suffering hit point damage that you can't heal or just loosing stats? You will have the opportunity in the game (finding anhks) to increase stats but it is frustrating to loose them!

Hope we can help you get your mage healed ASAP!!!

From Scabban - you can get out and come back again by jumping down the hole in his lab floor and swimming until you locate the underwater gates (near the rat pie guy). There is a lever under water to open the gates - take the mummy elevator back up and follow the passage to Kerah's statue and exit the crypt.

If I've completely lost you with my directions, check here for a map:

As i said on the tips thread; you need the Vine spell level 6 CURE to rid of the stat draining disease 'green face'. Restore Health level 7 spirit spell has no effect. Sad but true.

thanks for the help again
I have a save game just before meeting Scabban. I think that for the moment I will let him live. Untill I have the Cure spell that is
And Wyvern thanks - I did check the tips posting and found a link to a page that had the coloured icons with a short description of what each meant. What I was after though was if there was a more detailed description somewhere on what the icons meant.
For example - The red face icon has "Insane" for the description. I was after how stats/fighting ability change when insane, or whatever.

That would certainly make a most interesting list but I don't know that one exists currently. There isn't even a hint of information of that nature in the Tome of Misinformation (strategy guide). For the most part the effects, whatever they are, are temporary. I have noted that when my characters have become afflicted with various ailments that I cannot rely upon them to fight or cast spells and change my strategy accordingly. I ended up trying to just avoid the conditions that required a cure to remove and didn't worry at all about those that would go away on their own given time. And I did learn all the healing spells asap!

Actually, if you go back to that savegame, I'd just start in on Scabban again.

A couple of tips:

1. Flamedrop is really nice, because he can't do anything while he's in it. Even if it does no damage, it prevents him from attacking.

2. When he throws spells at you, you can actually dodge them. Try it -- just sidestep a bit, and you're there.

3. I prefer spells from a distance. Meteor, flamestrike, flamedrop -- anything that causes damage. If you're up high enough (and you can be), the various -storm spells put a quick end to it.

As for your question about insanity, you actually lose control of the character, so there's nothing good that happens as a result. Exorcism will restore sanity, as will one other spell that eludes me for the moment. I suspect the answer is in the Best Tips thread.
