Hey everybody, I'm considering upgrading my very old video card for a somewhat old card. I have two questions: first, will putting an agp 8X card into a slot designed for agp 4X cause problems for my motherboard/card?
Second - I've been looking through newegg.com - thanks to whoever recommended that site a while ago, can't remember who it was - at cheap cards (i'm upgrading from a geforce 256, primarily to try out Eve Online but also since much better cards are so cheap) and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I don't know much about cards, but for example they have geforce FX series cards for under 40 bucks. I do want to stick with Nvidia as I've had really good luck with them so far. Any suggestions are welcome!

Just make sure the card is 4x compatible
 (most are, especially the old ones)

wow fxseries are already streched to thier limit.
i got my fx5200 3 years ago. never regretted it since  . the new games now is what my video card is really struggling for.  do you know what your motherboard is? I am not 100% sure if 4x is compatible with 8x

8x cards work at 4x speed on 4x boards, likewise 4x cards work at 4x speed on 8x boards - lowest common denominator.

Avoid the fx 5200, get the older ti 4600 for cheaper and it will run faster.

I don't get that, I'm running an FX5200, and I'm not having any problems with it.
