The Glory Road is one of my alltime favorite books. I like and have all of Heinlein's books in hardback. I agree that a lot of fantasy is somewhat formulistic and these days downright boring. If you haven't already, try reading any of Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar books. I think they are good fantasy.

I have Glory Road, Starship Troopers, and Stranger in a Strange Land in hardback. The first two, I bought in college, back in the 60's. I had to buy a paperback of Glory Road, it was getting so worn. I'll take a look at Lackey. The most recent books that I really liked were Patricia McKillip's Riddlemaster Trilogy.

I got up to book 9 of the Wheel of Time series, and just couldn't do it anymore LOL. It was great halfway through the books, but got totally boring thereafter, got sick of reading pages of how one packs up his saddle and how one picks out her outfit and jewelry for the day

Terry Goodkind has been pretty good so far, I think I've read just as many books from him and they don't seem to be slowing down or getting boring Of course none of them can beat C.S. Friedman
