I was wondering if anyone here likes Tom Waits, he is by far one of the greatest Musician ... ever. I just got a album by him called Alice and it is just beautyful.
I also have a Mp3 file with him and the band Primus playing a song by Jack Keourac (sp?) called On the Road, and I was wondering if anyone knew from what album it is and if they did any more songs together. Anyway I also wanted to know if anyone here is a fan, when did you start listening and what is your favourite songs. I think I started listening to him around 1997 when I heard Swordfishtrombone album for the first time... but my fave songs are... 1. Take it with me 2. Hope that I don’t fall in Love with you 3. Neighbourhood 4. Alice 5. ol’55 6. Invitation to the blues 7. And the world died screaming 8. Underground 9. Tom Trauberts Blues 10. Closing time |

Jack Kerouac is a writer, "On the Road" his bestselling novel... slightly before your time maybe.
My father is a huge Tom Waits fan so I was sort of brought up with it. As a matter of fact I borrowed almost his entire collection of Waits CDs recently: Rain Dogs Small Change Frank's Wild Years Nighthawks at the diner Foreign Affairs Night On Earth The Black Rider Heartattack and Vine The Heart of Saturday Night Bone Machine Closing Time Swordfishtrombones Mule Variations Blue Valentine Blood Money Big Time Now stop that unseemly drooling, Jorath Anyway, greatest musician ever? Hardly, to my taste and opinion. But yeah, he's pretty special. [ 02-23-2003, 07:08 AM: Message edited by: Melusine ]

Tom Waits is pretty good, but not the greatest musician ever, no. I'm mostly familiar with his newer work, not his early-career more jazzy records. I've got a few of his records (including the aforementioned Alice), but I have to admit that I have to be in the mood for his music... It's not something I can listen to on every occasion.
