How do i get my down loaded portaits to work?

How on earth do u get downloaded portraits to work in icewind dale? I downloaded about 20 or so and have no clue how to install them. The manual says to put them in the portraits folder in the install directory. Now i know that sometimes u have to create the neccessary folder, but that didnt work either. Im just really getting annoyed about this and i would be very grateful for any help provided.

Make a portraits folder in ur icewind dale directory with all ur other folders.Name the folder portraits.Then load ur game up and click record then customize.Then click appearance.Then choose a picture for ur small and meium.That is how to change ur portraits in a middle of a game.I hope this helps u out.
Do the same if ur just starting out a game.

i forgot to add this.After u click appearence then click custom.

That's right--and if you still have trouble, check out bgchronicles.com. This site is for Baldur's Gate, but the information on how to use custom portraits is exactly the same. Note: you will have to restart (NOT reinstall) Icewind Dale to "find" the portraits you've added (in case you're doing this from the desktop WHILE playing) (note that you can change your portraits at any time during the game and that you don't necessarily have to stick to the ones you chose originally).
