I found this on microsoft's messenger service status page ( http://messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx )
All Features The .NET Messenger Service is undergoing routine maintenance. The service may be unavailable. Please try again later. Last Update: 10/10/2004 2:06:00 PM Pacific Time (GMT -8:00) EDIT: it is working for me now as stated in above posts. Although I would hardly call this routine maintenance... Could someone tell me whether it is now working for them or not, because Ross has stopped replying to my messages and I have no one else who shows up as online to be able to check.

It worked for me for about 10 minutes and now it seems it has died again. I guess I'm off to sleep then. I hope it shall work tomorrow.

Update: it seems it had been working all the time, it was only Ross who got a lengthy phonecall. Apart from the first time when it did not work of course.

I've been having trouble logging in myself, even now. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

This morning (here in Europe) it isn't working for me and I found this on its status page somewhere hidden amongst the microsoft pages. Actually it doesn't have too much new info:
.NET Messenger Service Sign In The .NET Messenger Service is temporarily experiencing difficulty. You may be unable to sign in. If you are signed in, some features may be unavailable. Please try again later. Last Update: 10/11/2004 12:07:00 AM Pacific Time (GMT -8:00)
