It is a sad fact that there has to be racism. I just think its ignorant in the sense that I have to be hated by the Native Americans (for example) for what my Irish ancestors did to native tribes when I am part Apache...once I get a good tan going (and you can tell I am an Apache), I am all their friend though. Its just stupid (if I may be so blunt). I can't grasp the mentality it takes to hate other people for their race or the color of their skin. I guess if I did, I'd have to hate myself lol. |

About hating someone for his skin color: I agree with Moni and others that it can never be justified, but I think at least in some cases it's understandable. When people of a different race once aggressed on your race before, your gut feelings of that race can't possibly be a hundred percent positive -- even though intellectually you can remind yourself that it's foolish to make negative generalisations about every member of that race.

Well in my opinion, it hasn't shown that communism works at all, the quality of life for the average individual is somewhat lacking if news reports and other sources of information are to be believed. It does appear to me that where China seems to be making inroads and advancing is where they are adapting capitalism to their own needs.
Im amazed, no one even mentioned Bruce Lee (there's a special on him on the tube right now ) He believed in the brotherhood of all races....quite a remarkable man. If 90 out of 100 times "my store" was robbed by someone wearing a red shirt, it would only be natural to be a little paranoid of every red shirt that came through the door. It is a completely different matter though when the subject concerns complete nations being obliterated by another race and others being brought to the edge of extinction, saving themselves only by submitting to the more hostile race. It has nothing to do with owning a store and being robbed. it the fact that (some) Native Americans (for example) resent white people no matter what their individual background because of what was done to their tribe and neighboring tribes over 200 years ago. I just finished watching Dances With Wolves for the umpteenth time. It never ceases to amaze me the changes that have taken place within the boundaries of this country in so little time. The resentment is understandable but at the same time, foolish, seeing as how the original oppressors have long since died. If only it had been left alone. Some people are happy in China, some aren't. Same with America, Singapore etc. As for communism, I think it's grossly unfair to generalise along such lines as: "If it doesn't work, it's communist, whereas if it works, it's capitalist." Communism is not without certain good points -- and neither is capitalism without problems. But I think they're both ultimately limited -- they're both materialist philosophies. Quote:

Hmmm when I say quality of life I just assumed everyone just "knows" that I mean health, the ability to speak your mind without fear for your life (though certain non-christians may still have that problem in some parts of the countrys) The ability to be self determinant to do what you love and not to be told what you will do. I did some thinking and realized since I have not been to china and only read about others visits to china I really should not even comment on it as it really isn't very reliable information Im basing my opinion on. Electricity can improve the quality of life but it isnt necessary to be happy...hence so many people in this country go hiking where there is none. Also I mixed in my post socialism and communism...they are different and I ascribed a socialist value to communism which also inst fair. Some people are happy in China, some aren't. Same with America, Singapore etc. Exactamundo! Altho I do wonder aobut the reletive numbers of happy vs not happy in each country...I think it would be really interesting...but I haveno ideas how you could gather that kind of subjective information. Yes materialist philosophies but "Real" life is in the MATERIAL world. Ignore it to your detriment. Philosophy has its place, but isnot the be all and end all. Quote:

Do you know why China is blocking access to google.com for residents? It is one of the best search engines, and I was just told that it is being blocked by the chinese government for some reason.
