The Wizardry series has had that for ages! My Dracon (correct spelling) ranger in Wiz 8 has been a godsend to the party; his acid breath attack has taken out groups of enemies before when all else seemed lost.

As a former Patron to MM7, Im looking forward to MM9 with great anticipation. My freind bought MM8 and said it was good but i have yet to play it. Does anyone here know the predicted release date? The screenshots look great. Not gonna miss it for the world!

M@M IX? I'm expecting final code in about a week, for a review.

Sure, graphics are nice: I remember being amazed by Ultima Underworld and Daggerfall, and I still have fond memories of exploring Enroth in M&M VI. But RPGs are more about content than flash. If you want empty flash, play a first-person shooter (where "complexity" means that you have to sneak around sometimes instead of blasting your way in). If you want depth, you won't worry about the fact that a CRPG has last year's engine or (horror) even an older one, because the story and the stats will be more important. Give me a nice deep RPG any day; I can't take the shallow shooters any more!

Can't disagree with that !!

I'm suffering from post Wizardry 8 depression. Playing other CRPs at the moment is like contemplating junk food after a banquet. Even the thought of going back and finishing BG2 just doesn't inspire me anymore. Perhaps MM9 or Morrowind will re-ignite the passion ..

While on the subject of M&M, has anyone played and finished MM1? I've finished all the other M&Ms, but keep getting wiped out in this one ..

Yes, but it's been years--when the port first came out on PC, I played it through.

So what's your favorite CRPG, gents and ladies? I suspect mine would be Betrayal at Krondor, Ultima VII, BG2, or Planescape: Torment, depending upon mood.

Fallout 1&2&Tactics. The whole series has a kind of cheery neurosis about it.

M&M 8 was a little bad, the whole game was rather stodgy and tedious, heroes of Might and Magic has always been much better IMHO.
