I remember seeing this commercial:
An African reporter was standing in Holland, telling the people in Africa how bad the situation is in the Netherlands (according to him half of the people in the Netherlands die from trombosis), followed by a shot of an African family writing down the number for the donation.
I think this parody to the usual donation requests is GREAT, because it makes you realise how it would be to be like a third world country needing help, and it also helps raise funds for research.
