I seem to have forgotten where exactly I find the Trident of Tides. Can anyone be of assistance?

It's a random treasure, as I recall. I think I've found it in the chests in Cet's room after the final conflict.
Don't remember what it does, exactly. Edit: And I just remembered that a while ago, someone (Felix?) had put together a list of all the special weapons and what they did. I'll see if I can find it and bump it up. Of course, it may be in Best Tips as well, where it probably belongs... And edited again, I bumped the post. Unfortunately, it doesn't identify much about it. [ 02-25-2003, 10:38 PM: Message edited by: Bungleau ]

According to the Tome of MisInformation
The Trident of Tides is a Pole & Staff Damage 7 - 21 Hit +2, Enchant +1; Stone, Sleep. Hope that helps! I also recall this being a random item, not something you could find in a particular area. Wyv |

There is always the old save, open chest, reload. Repeat until you tire off it.
What might be interesting is a study of where different levels of weapon appears. By that I mean, where (in which area) can you encounter +2 weapons, special weapons etc. Radek? +1 weapons are available at the beginning of the game, but I have never found a +2 in the start.

Thank you all for the help.
It was just that I found it in Collassium the first time I completed the game, and I thought it very obvious that it should be there. So when I recently came through the sunken city when completing the game again and did not find the weapon I thought it perhaps was a bug. I did find the mace of mangling in a chest instead though.

The trident can be found in any "artifact chest" and also as a loot from Demon Lords (Demon Lords can drop artifacts). Once, I got Tonomari Katana in Anephas Shrine as a loot from a Samurai Spirit Guard. This would mean that Samurai Spirit Guards can drop artifacts as well but I haven't seen any other artifact dropped by the guards.
The first artifact chest on your way seems to be the chest with the first tablet in Collasium. As far as the trident is concerned, it is nothing to write home about. It can't be blessed and it is stoning. If you are longing for a trident then become evil and get the Trident of Posseidon. The Trident of Posseidon cannot be blessed, too.

Imagine the battle.... you against a red dragon (or other beastie worth a lot of XP)... you finally get the nasty critter down into the red zone, but before you can deliver the final blow, *ZAP!* it's turned to stone.
Guess what? No XP for you, 'cause you didn't kill it! And since it's stone, you can't attack it either! All you can do is to take it home and put it on your fireplace mantle as a souvenir. That's why I dislike stoning. I mean, if I'm going to go through all that trouble, I want something out of it On a side note, when you leave the map and come back, the stoning is reversed. Imagine the implications... you stoned half a dozen mantraps and lilies, went into Anephas' Shrine, and came back out. They WILL hunt you down.... Heck, that would make for a fun battle!

Exactly. It can be added that you get no loot from a stoned creature. The only way out is the Stone to Flesh spell (IIRC, level 6 spell, i.e., 70 mana points) but the next hit of a stoning weapon can stone the monster again. And again The stoning ability makes a weapon unusable.
