Just discovered this...for newbies playing the game and wondering where to find their role ascension quests. Talk to the tavernkeep in the villages. He's got a lot of helpful hints.

The one in Valeia, for instance, tells a story to would-be Paladins about an old man being chased by nymphs, and discovering a statue in a garden near the lake. For Rangers-in-training, he hints that some travelers were ambushed on the river north of Nymph Lake with what purported to be a raptor.

I have a feeling that the barkeep has hints on just about all the role ascensions. I wonder if he's got any for Assassin, Zenmaster, and Valkyrie. I'm going to find out!

Great Saz!!!

Whenever I tried the barkeeps they only told me things I already knew so eventually I stopped even talking to them at all! Will be interesting to find out if they do have some useful information after all!

Moni: Yes, it's when you've gotten the Role Ascension quest. Hotfoot it over to the Tavern and ask for "rumors." You'll be surprised what you hear.

BTW, Congratulations, "Elminster!" Heheh!

One last hint: the character who received the role ascension quest has to be the one to talk to the tavernkeep...otherwise it won't kick in.

BTW, just what IS an "Elminster"? Some of these titles from Ziroc are just so obscure...I get the feeling it's probably from D&D, which I haven't really played in years.

Elminster: A character in D&D that reappears in D&D Novels and games. Oldest known Elminster is around 500 years old. Probably the most powerful Wizard in all of Faerun. Has been known to leave side notes in Balder's Gate's manuals

I take it that Ziroc is a huge AD&D fan...? Either that or that D&D tends to be the LCD of the gaming world, so most people are familiar with it..?
