I have to write this quickly; IW keeps disappearing from my server after a few minutes. (PO'd). I started a character in SoA with the xp cap remover installed. I removed the mod towards the end of SoA. (~6,000,000xp). This has negated the 8m xp cap of ToB and i'm stuck with the vanilla SoA cap. Is there a quick way of restoring the ToB cap? Or do i have to reinstall ToB?

Another quicky. If i reinstall ToB without uninstalling, do i still have to remove the fixpacks and Ascension first? (Which conveniently happens to be right at the @#$% top of my WeiDU list!)

From the forum FAQ

Quote:

1) Install the game first
2) Install the Official Patch next
3) Install the Fixpack
4) Install third-party mods if any

So I think yes.

I got it over a year ago so i can't recall exactly where it came from. It's called "BG2_XPCAP.zip" and creates a file called "Xpcap.2da" which is placed in the override directory if that's any help. I figured (wrongly) that removing it from override would restore the ToB cap.

Why i'll never use it again? Because i only got it out of curiousity and only utilized once before i discovered that the game just doesn't cater for ultra-high level characters. The fact that i'm probably gonna have to spend the rest of the night reinstalling patches and mods to fix the problem doesn't phase me at all. [img]graemlins/firedevil.gif[/img]

Wow, you remember my stories. Thanks, Xen. I didn't play BG2 for a long time after i sunk my teeth into Morrowind (which is why i haven't been in here) but rest assured that the adventures of Ecthelion and Co will continue... Just as soon as i work up the courage to face I-Irenicus again.

Your problem occured because ToB installs its XPcap.2da in the same folder. Create a new one, and put the following text into it:

code:
2DA V1.0
2950000
VALUE
MAGE 8000000
FIGHTER 8000000
CLERIC 8000000
THIEF 8000000
BARD 8000000
PALADIN 8000000
DRUID 8000000
RANGER 8000000
FIGHTER_MAGE 8000000
FIGHTER_CLERIC 8000000
FIGHTER_THIEF 8000000
FIGHTER_MAGE_THIEF 8000000
MAGE_THIEF 8000000
CLERIC_MAGE 8000000
CLERIC_THIEF 8000000
FIGHTER_DRUID 8000000
FIGHTER_MAGE_CLERIC 8000000
CLERIC_RANGER 8000000
MONK 8000000
SORCERER 8000000
[/QUOTE]Should fix your problem without needing to uninstall anything.
