Actually, Lennon, I just read in a few of pc magazines that ALL the major browsers have loopholes for exploitation by hackers or spyware etc and a major problem these days is people thinking that just because they aren't using IE they are 'safe' on the net!

I think it's all a matter of balancing your needs from a browser with what you feel you can manage on the 'safe' end (adding extra protections with firewalls and such) no matter what you choose.

I started using Firefox a few weeks ago. For some sites I find it loads pages faster, especially at work (dial-up). I kinda switch back and forth re Firefox and IE, depends on what site I want to go to.

I use firefox, for a month or two now. Everything loads much faster, and the animations are superspeeded. (LZ's thing is moving at a million miles an hour. )

To a point, perhaps. No, even with the right software you're not perfectly safe... but alternative browsers are a good step toward security on the net being a simple matter of common sense, rather than one of running numerous extra programs that most people can't be expected to know about.

Animations are fast?
I thought you were a Mac guy?

Some animated GIFs look like they play fast in Firefox on Windows, because IE/Win slows them down.

EDIT:
And re the title of the thread, the term is 'web browser'. The web is but a small part of the internet, and there is no such thing as an 'internet browser'.
Yeah, I have a mac, but animations seem to go faster than they usually should/do.

Firefox.

Extensions are quite helpful in avoiding some of the more annoying aspects of the web (flash ads in particular, especially the ones that make noise)
Not trying to be a smart a-- but we are internet brower's

I have been using Firefox for almost 21 months and I love it. Then with a few add ons like spywareblaster, Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Dsstroy and AVG Free antivirus I havent had a popup or a re-direct trojen horse last more that 30 seconds since loading all of them. Befor Firefox and these few helpers I would spend Half of every day just wanting to launch my computer to the moon one way. I will never go back to IE with Norton Antivirus ever again.
