I have a good/neutral party consisting of Me (chaotic good beserker), Minsc, Mazzy, Jahiera, Aerie, and Imoen. I've heard some of the benefits of bards so I was wondering if I should get Haer'Dalis. If you think I should, who should I replace. If you have any other suggestions for the party they would be helpful too. (I'm playing with all NPCs). Thanks.

If you want to keep it good/neutral... I'd suggest replacing Mazzy with Keldorn, and Aerie with Jan.

I always take the following through with me: Minsc ,Jaheira,Anomen (good cleric, fair front line fighter),Jan Jansen (best thief in game and can do mage spells as well),and I usually pick up Valygar. I drop Valygar when I go to get Imoen.Minsc can put on leather armor and sneak as well Valygar ever did so I don't lose too much when dropping Valygar. After the first game I stopped taking Aerie with me,just too much trouble.HTH.

Thanks for the suggestions. Why Keldorn instead of Mazzy? Also, I'm about to go to the underdark. Is it too late to pick up Keldorn and Jan? Most of my people are at the 12th level (except Jaheira and Minsc). Should I just continue on with the party I have or ditch them as soon as I get back to Athkatla. Thanks.

I would prefer Keldorn too. He is good fighter with a nice sword, but his main advantages are Dispel Magic and True Sight abilities. This is very helpful in fights with mages.
Two words about Haer'Dalis. As for me - he is pretty useless. Not a fighter - usually he gets killed in no time, not too many spells, and to make the things worse - his bard song cannot be improved with levers gained. ------------------ Tanda, with best regards from Guild of Assassins |

Keldorn is great, but with your party, I'd stick with Mazzy. She has great stats, special abilities, and is killer with a short bow. You already have two good frontline fighters, and I think Keldorn would be over-kill. Although, being able to use Carsomyr (Holy Avenger) is a big plus. ------------------ "This place will be your tomb." |

Stay away from Haer'Dalis, he's nice to play around with but he is actually not much of an asset to a party, unless you tweak him with shadow keeper.
If only he was a Skald, or even a Jester... BTW, you dont need to have Keldorn the party you have is just fine. And keep Aerie, cleric spells are good to have . |
