That sounds lovely! I can pick it up as you all have time! This way when I visit the 'motherland' (my father's family, including me, is only third or fourth generation American - they came here from Holland) - I can have some idea of what I'm doing.

Wenn ich Zeit habe, spiele ich Tennis.

That's as far as I know in German.

Excuse me everyone. I left for three hours and you already filled the topic I created with 50 replies? It's a success. I'm flattened.

"I would like to buy some cheese."
"Jeg vil gerne köbe noger ost."
(Notice the two little dots above one of the "o"'s, this is in fact a special danish letter which is: "ø" not sure if it will show up though, the bulletin board dislikes some of these special danish letters.)

"Where is the nearest chocolate shop?"
"Hvor er den nærmeste forretning hvor kan jeg købe noget schokolade?"
(This one has been altered a bit since we don't really have any stores in Denmark that only sell chocolate and sweets, I altered it to the danish equivalent of: "Where is the nearest store in which I can buy some chocolate?")

"Can you please help me?"
"Kan de hjaelpe mig?"
(I used the formal version here, for the less formal version of the phrase, replace "de" with "du", the "ae" is in fact a special danish letter, which is "æ" I'm not sure if it will show up correctly though.)

Nice! Now - on pronunciation - is your 'j' like the German 'j' - pronounced like American 'y'? Also, the 'v' - is it pronounced? and if so is it like very or like an American 'f'? Also, in hjaelpe, is the last 'e' pronounced?

The "j", is pronounced like the german one, the "v" is not pronounced like an "f", I can't really sure how to explain how you pronounce the last "e" in hjaelpe.... Ah! I've got it, you know the word "failure" right? Now, the "u" in "failure", I believe that's the closest thing I can find in english to describe how to pronounce that "e", not sure if there's something closer though, but I don't think so.

You got it very right ! But don't you think it would be more interesting if you brought a chandelier instead of a blanket ?

(I cannot believe I made three major mistakes in a post correcting you !

Whatever would we do with a chandelier in a field????

As to errors - I don't point fingers at those trying to help me.
