Question: I've read that the IWD Patches 1.05 and/or 1.06 should not
be installed after installing Heart of Winter. I was wondering--do any
of you know if this is a valid statement or not? And, if this IS true,
does that mean that installing Heart of Winter AFTER installing patches
1.06 and 1.06 is also a NO-NO? I'm just curious because when I had
numerous crashes after installing Heart of Winter and the Heart of
Winter patch, and I'm not sure if this is a problem of compatibility
with the IWD Patches (which had already been installed prior to
installing HOW). I want to try out the new Luremaster expansion, but
I want to clear up these issues first! Thanks!

Luremaster addon is an all inclusive patch. I would give it a try to see if it clears up your problems.

To answer your other questions: I installed IWD patched to 1.06 and then installed HOW and patch 1.41 after I completed IWD once. I then installed luremaster addon when it came out. No problems for me. I'm running win2k.

Stormhammer,

I actually installed the IWD patch after I installed HoW and the result was that the game would not work because the patch overwrites the IDMain.exe file which is the executable that executes the program.

If you are having so many problems with IWD crashing have you thought about uninstalling it the reinstalling it. You might have some corrupted files. Try what EDJockster suggested in another thread.

Install steps:
1. IWD
2. HOW
3. ToL (includes all the patches like Leafy said)

If you are anal like me you can go this route for installing:
1. IWD
2. IWD patch 1.06
3. HOW
4. HOW patch 1.41
5. ToL

It seems like overkill and probably is, good luck!
Hope this helps.
