I read a lot of people talking about online games, are you talking about IWD? or another game? If you're talking about IWD how can I get into one? Would love to play online with other players.
Thanks

you can play IWD, IWD-HOW and IWD-HOW-TOL online. Last night i tried it for the first time but could not get into a game or if i tried, could not get a game going. I'm using gamespy, does anyone out there have a step-by-step on how to start a game in gamespy for IWD? the problems i ran inot was
1. could not get the "join" button to work
2. when i did could not find an ip address to join
3. tried starting a game but not sure exactly how to.

I haven't tried it myself but may do tomorrow as I like multiplaying. I know you get Gamespy with HOW but have you tried the software thing you get with IWD?

In addition there seems to be little in terms of multiplayer community. I posted a similar question with little response on Interplay's site.

I just found out that that is Mplayer and was acquired by Gamespy. Try searching for posts with multiplayer as their subject.

Here are a few tips for GameSpy :

(1) You must make sure that the IWD version of the game your running is the
same version that the host is using otherwise you will not be able to join a
game. It would be best to get the 1.06 version as most GameSpy players have
that version installed.

(2) If you have any of the expansion(s) installed you will only be able to
connect to a game which the host has those expansion(s) installed as well.
The same as if you are trying to host the game your self, the players that
join has to have the expansion(s) installed.

(3) To join a GameSpy game, first pick a game you wish to join and click on the
name of the room. If the room has a yellow square you will enter that rooms
lobby where you will meet the host and the other players waiting to play.
Click on your ready button and the light next to it will turn green. Now you
will have to wait for the host to push his Launch button and then the game
should begin to load. Once loaded click on Connect and wait to join the
Character screen, if you can`t connect first time, keep on trying because
you will have to wait until the host has set the game up. Some of the rooms
have a green arrow which means that the game is already underway but you can
still enter that game.

(4) To host a game, click on the Create Game button and wait for other players
to join your room. When all the players have pushed their Ready button and
so have your, click the Launch button to get the game going. Load up either
a Saved Game or begin a New Game, then wait for the other players to join.

(5) If you wish to use your single player character in an online game don`t
forget to export him first. You can then import your character once the
online game has begun.

(6) If you have a Firewall make sure that you set the security level to low
otherwise you will not be able to host a game and may not even see any other
game rooms on your screen.

(7) And most importantly, have fun.

These are just some of the basics and hopefully will get you playing online, I may even see you there sometime. Hope you find this usefull, if you have any other questions, I will try to answer them for you. Happy Gaming.
