Ever wonder about those people who say they are giving more than 100%? We
have all been to those meetings where someone wants over 100%. How about
achieving 103%? Here's a little math that might prove helpful.

What makes life 100%?

If : A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z

is represented as:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26

Then, H A R D W O R K
8 1 18 4 23 15 18 11 = 98%

K N O W L E D G E
11 14 15 23 12 5 4 7 5 = 96%

But, A T T I T U D E
1 20 20 9 20 21 4 5 = 100%

And, B U L L S H I T
2 21 12 12 19 8 9 20 = 103%

So, it stands to reason that hard work and knowledge will get you close,
attitude will get you there, but bullshit will put you over the top.

So, the next time someone claims to be giving over 100%, you know what he
is doing.

And if your boss demands more than 100%, then let him have it.

If anyone ever actually DID manage to give something 100%, we would have to bury the poor sod since they used everything...thus discontinuing the life processes.

Well, I seriously think all you can expect is someone's best. And their best might not be the same in every situation.

Lol! I'll remember that when I get a job, and don't plan to keep it long.

Someone's best is never going to be the same in every situation. If you're doing something different and new to them, the results are going to vary. (obviously right??) Even if it is something they rule at, they might not be as motivated to do their best as the were the first time.

Sorry just taking psychology.

Hmmm. I would think that if they were not motivated to do their best, then that performance would not be their best, no? Motivation wouldn't affect their 'best', if best performance is defined as their optimum performance, because in their optimum performance their motivation would always be at its highest. I would think the only factors that would change what someone's 'best' performance is, would be if their skill level changed, or circumstances changed. For example, if one was putting in their best performance fishing, then when they first started their best performance might be catching one fish, because they haven't got the hang of casting and such. When they were more experienced their best performance might be 10 fish, because their skill with the rod is higher. But then it would be mediated by circumstances, say how many fish there were in the water. But if they were not motivated to catch a lot of fish, then they would not be giving their best performance .

Cool, you do psychology? Me too [img]smile.gif[/img] . How long have you been doing it for? Are you doing it like as a major or just a fill-in? What areas are you interested in?
