LOL Moridin! That was just wrong!
The ad says "To get a closer look at each item, click on any picture." Did I read the label correctly? "Concentrated yeast extract"? Most strange. Can't be any worse than menudo or pickled pigs feet. ------------------ You know childhood is over when a puddle seems like an obsticle instead of an opportunity. Is Too! Is Not! Is Too! Is Not! |

Maybe I just don't know enough about it, but it doesn't sound too bad.

Vegemite - inedible
Peanut Butter - sickly Marmite - yuckie Gumbo - ate it in New Orleans and loved it. If you must eat vegemite here's a way to make it more palatable. Here are the Ingredients you will need to make.... A Vegemite Milkshake Vegemite - A black substance made of Concentrated Yeast Extract, Icecream -To Chill the shake, Milo - Another Australian product . . Chocolate sprinkle Energy drink, Lite-white Milk - Half a glass, Two Eggs, Nutmeg, Two Stock cubes (Beef or Chicken), One Very-Hot-Chilli-Pepper - Ouch! HOW TO MAKE THE SHAKE: ~ First put two tablespoons of Good Aussie MILO (Chocolate drink mix) in the bottom of a Milkshake Glass. ~ Lightly spread one thin layer of Vegemite over the Milo to seal in the Chocolate flavour. ~ Briskly Whip two eggs and pour on top of the vegemite layer. ~ Take one icecream scoop and while still in the icecream scooper-spoon ; cover generously with Vegemite so completely black. ~ Add Milk ; slowly mix in stock-cubes. ~ Carefully drop Icecream scoop into glass from a height of 13 inches* (precisely). ~ Sprinkle with nutmeg or top with cream. ~ Take Very-Hot-Chilli-Pepper and chew it VERY SLOWLY so as to completely numb any sensation in your throat. ~ Enjoy your fair-dinkum aussie Vegemite Milkshake. ~ Great at Breakfast or to ease that mid-morning hunger-cravings. Don't try this at home kids ------------------ Save Chip - Don't let Sarah win! Official Titterer of the Laughing Hyenas |

Vegemite/Marmite - I think the only people who like 'em have insensitive taste buds!
There was an experiment with babies in the UK recently to see if we all tasted the same things, and if different taste reactions related to obesity. The results apparently showed that babies who happily ate lemons and other strongly flavoured foods were more likely to become obese than babies with more sensitive taste reactions who rejected strong flavours with expressions of disgust. The experiment is continuing. I think the babies are about 2 now. But whatever the end result, it is clear that some people are less and some more sensitive to taste than others. Maybe you Australians have more taste insensitive people than other nations, lol! ------------------ |

Marmite is very popular in the UK - vegemite too, but not as well known.
It is a kind of love-hate thing. I love marmite. I always have a great big jar of it in my cupboard. Yes, it is a yeast extract (from the brewing process I believe - don't forget that although the idea of eating yeast sounds horrid, without it bread would not rise and beer would not ferment). It is very rich in B vitamins, but quite high in salt though. ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. Epona of The Laughing Hyenas |

Thanks Epona
Definitely does not sound like something I would be able to stomach. I am not real big on salty anything I don't eat menudo or pickled pig's feet either. Love my wheat bread though. Fljotsdale, my son eats lemons, heck, he eats anything but peaches...he's thin as a rail. I don't. Other than Italian and mild Mexican I eat pretty bland foods...I'm thin as a rail. I guess there are exceptions to every rule. That is an interesting study though. ------------------ You know childhood is over when a puddle seems like an obstacle instead of an opportunity. Is Too!
