Ok guys here it is:

My public AIM account: CapnBigglesII

My Ironworks account: WaluinII

I bounce between those two, because I know a *lot* of people, heh. And sometimes I just want to talk with a select few.

If it's comparable to icq, the answer is yes. Though you can send messages to one another, but not files, most of the firewalls won't allow filetransferring. I'm not even sure if AIM has a filetransfer function at all, though..
(installed it once but since none of my friends really used it (only IRC chat and icq), I didn't bother with reinstalling it after a proper cleaning of my computer).

Donut, I think you can - I just signed on from work and AIM told me I had to connect via a proxy if I had a firewall. So I did, and it worked.

BTW, I am 'FrenchMoiraine' there, as on MSN. Er, I hope it does, since I can't see anybody online so far ...

Does anyone know what the blinking dark rectangular symbol with the red arrow at the top, that keeps appearing over the AIM icon in my task bar, signifies ? A connectivity problem ? I have searched both the AIM site and the AIM help section for a list of symbols like that - to no avail.
