I'm having some difficulty choosing between these weapons for my Lord Gnome McAdamia. This may have been covered on this board long ago. Comments are welcome. Here are the stats:

Dex = 97
Spd = 96
Sword = 89
Mace = 72
Dual = 108
Power strike = 62

Ivory Blade:
Raw damage 7-31
To hit +4
Initiative +5
Bonuses: AC +1, K.O. 1%, Haste (lev 3)

Fang:
Raw damage 10-24
To hit +2
Initiative +2
Bonuses: Kill 10%, Str +10

Ivory Blade, Diamond Eyes combo:
Overall damage 14-62, 11-33
Attack rating 53, 47
# Attacks 2, 2
Max swings 3,2
To hit +21, +16

Fang, Diamond Eyes combo:
Overall damage 22-53, 11-35
Attack rating 52, 48
# Attacks 2, 2
Max swings 2,2
To hit +20, +17

Currently trying IB because of more possible HP damage (extra swing) but that 10% kill of Fang's is tempting. May get an extra swing for Fang with more dex, speed? Not using the IB haste feature in battle but perhaps should (have no haste spell casters). Notice how DE ratings are also effected. Added attack ratings are the same (100), for what that is worth.

I've used Fang before, and that 10% kill rate is pretty useful IMO. Why not trial it? Maybe use Fang for a bit, if it turns out useless then switch back to IB, otherwise stick with it.

You get more swings from: Speed, Dex, Weapon skill, Close Combat skill, Dual Wield skill, and the weapon's initiative factor.

It seems like IB is a better choice for a couple of reasons.

The extra 'to hit' bonus may make a difference on expert mode (although probably not a noticeable one on normal).

You are already at high powerstrike and do massive damage per round, so a 10% kill rate may not help too much. I mean, how many opponents last more than a round or two against this guy? (and the one that do last more than a round or two aren't very likely to be 'instant killed' anyway)

Did you try The Mauler together with diamond eyes? In my experience, since to to mace&flail bonus of the mauler, you often get an additional attack with diamond eyes in this combination.

Yes the instakill of fang is IMO more preferable.

That extra swing is draining your stamina, wheras the effect of the instakill is (among other things) typically reducing the stamina expenditure.

As far which weapon will end your opponents life more quickly - averaged out, I'd think they were pretty close (depending on the opponent and its level).

Of course if you have someone casting haste then its a no-brainer, go for fang.

IB has been pretty convincing so far, but I think I'll try out Fang in the Away Camp. There are some Rapax Temple Masters who need to learn some manners at the point of a blade...

The cow goes: "mooo" (..and then flys into bloody chuncks from an instakill.. shame the byproduct isn't steak or hamburger.. hmm, maybe not.. considering their goddess they prob. have mad cow disease).

sort of related ... does anybody know if senses (and whatever the other attribute is) have any effect on weapon critical hits? I'm guessing not, but thought I'd ask.
