okie, I am a Wild Mage. Imprisoned One (nonimproved) is immune to lvl 6 spells and lower. Say I cast some level 7 spell and I get a Wild Surge: Target is Polymorphed. Would the polymorph be cast as a level 7 spell since thats what I cast, or would it be cast as a normal "Polymorph Other"?

Along the same lines, say I cast Nahals Recklesss Dweomer which is a level 1 spell, then I choose a level 8 spell to cast from the NRD. Is that spell cast as a level 8 or a level 1? I assume level 8, but I was just curious.

I just had my first encounter with the demon and, well lets just say I found out he's immune to Time Stop. By the time the Time Stop ended, I was all that was left of a 6 person party

I guess this next time I'll summon some help before I walk down those stairs!

Just make sure that you summon help in the same area, or you'll waste it. As for spells, when they have that much immunity, why waste time with them? Tank him down, maybe?

Use your spell casters to beef up and protect your tanks, and bash hell out of him.

it was more of a theoretical question. first the chances of a Wild Surge happening aren't that great, and to have a specific one is even less of a chance.

You may understand 'what' and 'how' by joining him to your party and start casting whatever you want at him to see the effect. Ctrl+q on him when the game is run with debugging on. If you don't want to cheat then I'm telling you, this one can be beaten only with fighing - summons party members - whatever. He have 90% MR that can not be lowered due to his spellcraft immunity (I'm not quite sure, but even pierce shield does not affect him or you may try cleric's MR spell - he can not be inprisoned). He have -16 AC. He is completely immune to almost every elemental damage - only his cold resistance is 50%. He have a lot of HP ~300 (I'm not sure, but...). He is the prince of demons - he is supposed to be difficult. He have 10% resistance against all kind of physical damage (blunt, piercing, etc). A high lvl sorcerer (alone) can beat him (the planetars are not so useful - they die fast) with time stop if certain things already have happened like finishing SoA by the good way. If your fighters have their high level abilities like Hardiness and Greater whirlpool attack then haste them, let them drink potions for strength, protect them with spells (against certain attacks) and use these abilities with some veery good weapons.
I'm talking about the unimproved inprisoned one.

Actually magic is a way to beat him and his MR can be lowered. Pierce shield works just fine with both the improved and non-improved version. It might not get listed in the tekst-box .. but his MR is down.

I imagine as stated already, that his MR can be lowered. After using the Spell Strike ability of some of the wands you find in WK, I was able to do significant damage with ADHW. He wasn't too tough really, you just have to be fast about dealing with him. The 6-armed monsters were harder, having left Elminsters Ecologies back in the pocket plane and not know specifically what their weaknesses were. But anyway, i fought the battle a few times for fun, after losing a few times.

i find this battle to be one of the easiest of the "hard" fights. i could post a tactic with which you cannot be beaten really, but i wont post it if its not needed(you didnt ask for any spoilers/tactics on how to beat demogorgon).
