Everytime I use my auto-map now my game automatically closes itself after about a second or so... I have reinstalled both the BG2 patch and the SOA Baldurdash fixpack but it still happens. It's never done this before and it is very annoying not being able to use my map. Any Ideas?

Edit: This bug only occurs on maps that aren't completely explored.

i had the same problem, and i fixed it, but i'm not sure anymore how.
i either
changed the graphics settings in the game
made sure nothing was running in the background
changed the graphics drivers of my comp
or reinstalled the whole game

now, i know this doesn't help too much.
oh, i allso had this problem from the start of the game, it didn't occur halfway.

wait a darn minute....
it may have something to do with a bad-quality cd and not having a full installation. try copying the map files to your hd. (don't remember wich files, don't remember where to put them).

You can also try clearing your cache directory in the BG2 folder.

Sometimes the area files that are saved there can get corrupted. If the cache is empty, the game will reload the area files from the CD (or HD under full install).

That may not be your problem, but always try clearing out your cache before resorting to more intensive measures (like reinstalling)

I've tried reinstalling patches, deleting the cache, reinstalling the game, changing the graphics parameters etc. and still nothing is fixing this problem. Is there any tech support/trouble shooting site I should know about? This problem is VERY annoying. I Need Help!

I'm hoping if I keep this post alive someone will notice it and know a solution...

But anyway, I've noticed that the game only crashes when i move the mouse across the auto-map. I'm thinking that this means it may have something to do with the mouse. Anyone know of anything that could possibly cause this?
