Not that I'm complaining but...
The first time I played through IWD, I noted when in the Temple at LDD that Perdiem offers some bizarre prices for healing. All the spells he could cast were full price, except one...Heal. The price for that one was 0 gp. I could get fully healed as much as I wanted for free, but a cure light wounds would cost me. Whatever. Flash-forward: next run-through. By this time I've installed HoW and TotLM - no mods installed, thus intact to the best of my knowledge. So, this time I find that Perdiem's gotten a bit looser with his spells than last time...and EVERYTHING is free. Cool. So, while playing Neverwinter Nights and taking advantage of the priests' free healing in that game, I remembered this. Has anyone else received this blessing? Is it a bug or just an act of gratitude? |

I think it's supposed to be gratitude. I'm not sure what the deal was with vanilla IWD, but the changes in HoW do seem to indicate that he's grateful. It fits the plot, too.
Isn't Heal the only spell you can buy from him with HoW installed? I seem to recollect that all the other spells were greyed out. I do believe that Egenia charges, though. Apparently her commercial instincts win out over gratitude.

If the party can rest, why want heal even if it is free?

It's the way it's supposed to be. He says it himself "I'm going to heal you for free" or something similar.
