Can Monks use dual weapon fighting, do they suffer any penalties?

Just started playing a Monk. First time going through the game.

Unarmed no, they can't. However, armed they can, and suffer the same penalties everyone else does (-10 to hit with off hand, -6 to hit with main hand). To reduce the penalties, take the feats Two-Weapon Fighting and Ambidexterity (need to have a dex of 15 to take Ambidexterity, but for a monk that should not be too difficult). This will reduce the penalties to -4/-4 when using two weapons of the same size as you, and to -2/-2 if the off hand weapon is one size smaller than you.

However, why would you want to use weapons if you are monk? After about level 8 or so, weapons are not worth it for a monk (they fight better unarmed).

If you do use kamas, you can still use flurry of blows, as kamas are the preferred weapon of monks, after unarmed. I like to use Thread of Life, for healing properties. Monks rock unarmed tho'.

One question...why??? Hit 'em with your fists!

If you want to dual-wield, just play a weapon-related class (fighter, ranger, paladin, etc.)
