k, I'm a chaotic good (I think) sorceror, I'm in the Spine of the World, and since the beginning of this chapter (3) I have been getting attacked by either my familiar or my henchman or both for no apparent reason!!! What the hell!? Is this a bug?? How do I make it stop?

Ok...have you been petting your familiar enough? Come on now...have you?

Nah, I think this is a bug man. Seen it happenm once already unless there's some OC reason why this happens. I never got that far with the OC to know.

There is definitely a hostile henchman bug in the game, but it USUALLY occurs as follows:

you save the game (OC)
export your character
play ANOTHER mod
export the character to a new slot
restart your original save (OC) as multiplayer
import the NEW character

It happened to me ALL the time under the above circumstances up to version 1.2.7
It also happened routinely in multiplayer games when a save game is reloaded and a different version of the character is reloaded.

SUPPOSEDLY this was a bug that was going to be fixed, but I haven't tried the above sequence since I've patched to v1.2.9 so I can't tell you if it HAS been fixed.

I never had my henchman turn hostile in the normal OC UNLESS I tried something similiar to the above sequence.

but I don't think, in fact I'm fairly certain, that I have been playing any other mods. unless my brother has been dicking around with it, damn siblings

Just having a mod on the same system should not be an issue. The issue would only arise if he was using your character and did the above mentioned steps. I tried this with the 1.29 patch in chapter 1 and found all of the henchmen I had hired before the export import thing would not talk to me. They said they were employed by someone else or something like that. When I went to chapter 2 everything seemed to fix itself.

What patch level are you running at?

Does anyone know if there is a download that his brother might have installed that would do this? I have not installed any of the cool stuff out there but I know there are hakpaks that let you control your henchman's invertory and other things. Check your C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\hak directory and see if anything is in it.

well HER bother probably didn't install anthing new cause I'm just home for the summer and my computer isn't connected to the net (instead I have to use our 4 or 5 year old one that never used to irritate me before, strange...) and I have the 1.29 patch.

I'm just getting annoyed with this bug, to the point where I don't even want to have my henchman or familiar around (I've already done the henchman quest for this chapter). but since I'm playing a sorceror I'd probably get creamed right away. and I'm not wussing out and lowering the difficulty level, so anyone have a plan?? is there a new patch out there that I could try?
