I don't know how many of you buy PC magazines on a regular basis, but the ones I tend to read (MaximumPC, PCMagazine, internet magazine, and PCGamer) come with a disk full of demos and other goodies.
After Ziroc's most recent bout with viruses, I've been trying to upgarde to Internet Explorer 6.0. However, I've found that download times on my poky little 56k modem (which seems to act more like a 28.8k on my current phone lines) estimate that it will take over 2 hours to download the whole thing. That brings me to my question. Has anyone bought a recent issue of a PC magazine with a demo disk that happened to have IE6 on it? I also am a bit interested to see if others read PC magazines and if so, which ones. ------------------ Most Subtle Official Straightman of the Laughing Hyenas -- Grammarian Brigade. You could download it from www.microsoft.com couldn't you? I also have a 56k and it took me a little under an hour.

Took me 57 mins, even though it SAID 2hrs. My modem is 56 as well. But I DO have 'Al!Gator', which means you can re-start from where it left off if times out. Not that this download did. Went like clockwork. Just make sure you have screensaver and any other autorun switched off.

I went out and bought PCMagazine, and found that it had Internet Explorer 5.0. Oh well. Maybe I'll just start the download sometime late at night, set the alarm, and get up to turn off the computer. ------------------ Most Subtle Official Straightman of the Laughing Hyenas -- Grammarian Brigade.
