Cloudy, sorry about the diatribe I wrote about the organized religions, I have sampled many of the Christian faiths in a search for the "right" one. The organized religions do many great and noble deeds but still I can see in the heart of them that there are far too many people involved with the $$$ and cents of things. I have by no means been into even a small fraction of the churches on the east coast but the variations that I have sampled still always seemed to be about putting blocks between you and god and less about getting you directly in touch. Having been raised catholic I ended up searching to find a better way and found none. What I did find was a closer relationship to God and have formed my own relationship to him (or her for those feminists out there).
I guess I was just putting my gut reaction to too many televangelists on the tube over the weekend Please forgive me for appearing more cynacle (spelling?) than I actually am ------------------ Disintigration is easy, If you really want to impress me, ReIntegrate it. |

Sorry if anyone thought , that when I refered to the uneducated etc etc masses that I was refering to the present time...I was refering at that point to the middle ages when the "Holy Roman" church ruled with an Iron fist and sold "Special Dispensations" from sins to those who had the cash...Having just read a rather in depth and uncensored accoount of what exactly the christian churches did during that time, it is hard to pull out of that "MUCK" and remember that the churches today are in many ways very different. Cloudy I have many many many good decent christian friends..and non-christian (tho the non christian are pretty much just following a romanticized version of various "pagan" religions) who exhibit that humans CAN be very very good. It is not a natural state though, humans by nature are not good beings. They do have to be taught and while the monetary nature of what I call organized religions is just such a downer to me, they do provide a base of education for our kids.

Magik,
Don't worry, I kind of sensed a little 'overkill' there! But ranting is allowed! Still, I did want to let you know that the world of organized religion, for all it's faults, is not completely bad. No offense take, btw! I'm glad to see so many people exchanging views! Hey GR, nice thread. I wasn't arguing though I did unintentionally spew an insult and when it was pointed out I apologized no hard feelings here. Just interestng and to tell the truth I was very pleased to see what Cloudy had to say, just one more bit o evidence that there are warm, caring and spritual people out there who do what is right. While I would never make palidinhood, I do always strive to do what is right and to help people who are in need.

Grand Ranger, sorry if we OT your thread, dear! But religion is one of those things that's hard to keep in a nice neat box! Anyway, sorry about that!
Cloudy PS- Magik, you are a gracious debater. Very nice to meet you too, btw. ------------------ Raindancer of the Laughing Hyenas Clan Storm-Queen Raven's Cloud StormCloud of the Black Knight: Heart Mind Soul Forever "To sleep, perchance to dream..." |

Yes good thread GR it is hard to have a religious based thread that does not wander all over creation (Pun Intended)
Thanks Cloudy I tend to be vocal but try not to intentionally hurt people with what I say. ------------------ Disintigration is easy, If you really want to impress me, ReIntegrate it. |
