It's easy really.

Go to your main IcewindDale 2 folder (it's probably called D:/Program Files/Black Isle/Icewind Dale II/)

Create a new folder called "Portraits"

Download your portraits to the folder

Make sure the portraits are in 24 bit bmp format

The file names should conform to this convention:

xxxxxxxL.bmp (210 x 330 pixels)

xxxxxxxS.bmp (42 x 42 pixels)

The "x"'s can be anything you want up to but not exceeding 7 characters

Now you're ready to go. When you start a new character, simply hit the CUSTOM button when you get to the appearance screen and a new window will open and you can select the portrait pair you want. If you want to edit an old character, simply go to the character record screen, hit customize and then hit custom when the first portrait screen comes up. VOILA!

If you're downloading portraits from our site, left click on the small portrait on the website, and it will download a zip file containing both the L and S sized portraits. Unzip the contents of the zip file into your Portraits folder and you're all set.

Have fun.

You mean the stuff in parentheses after the file names? No, that was just a guide for other people who might want to make their own portraits.

The file names should just be:

xxxxxxxL.bmp

or

xxxxxxxS.bmp

That's Faraday, she is a priestess of the earth godess, in the Wayfarer: Redemption trilogy from Sara Douglass. This picture is a part of the cover of book one.

@ Luvian,

Thanks for the info. That's my bad - I used the original Luis Royo artwork for that portrait, (with some minor edits) and it looked more "roguish" than anything else to me. (The sword on her back threw me off I guess). Because of the way we are archiving these ports, it may be a while before we can get those bmp file names changed. We're still trying to add more content.

@Warhammer,

Glad you liked them. I wish I could take credit for ALL of the drow, but the ports marked with edits were done by my partner Wyndz. He's a magician when it comes to drow; in fact it's an obsession. Check back from time to time, because I am POSITIVE that he will have some more of his drow edits.
